Leroux: I just made some tests with the Epic games I have installed that aren't on the list yet
Thanks, I've updated them.

pedrovay2003: I'm pretty curious about Days Gone, which came out yesterday. It would be pretty amazing if Sony kept up DRM-free releases.
That's still remains untested at the moment.

Also for those asking, Death Stranding's former Denuvo may have been removed but it still appears to have the Epic Client check.

For the Steam ver of Days Gone Steamless works well. Unknown about the Epic version.
3 out of 10, Season 2

The Last Campfire: Works without the Epic launcher installed, saves progress, pops up a webpage to link into Epic, but game can be played if it is ignored.
Someone asked a long time ago about New Super Lucky's Tale, and I can confirm now that it is DRM-free with the -EpicPortal trick.

PC Gaming Wiki is showing it is DRM free. I bought it to make sure.

There are two executables. One of them is in the main game folder, which links to the store and does not work without the Epic Launcher open. The other is located several subfolders down at DaysGone\BendGame\Binaries\Win64. That one works fine without the client active or running in the background.

I'd still rather it come to GOG, but this will do in the meantime.

Holy crap, that's really incredible. I'd rather it on GOG, too, but the fact that Sony, of all companies, is releasing DRM-free first-party games is just crazy to me.
Death Stranding can be played without the client on Win10. No switch necessary. Saving and loading seemed to work just fine the time I tried it.
I assume the online features work, but I prefer to play with them off so I can't confirm for sure.

I will try to play it from my laptop that has never had Epic on it and should be Denuvo free as well, but it only has an iGPU so the game might refuse to run because of that.

There is a Non-DX 12 fix-mod for Death Stranding PC.

It's over here - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nSv2w-iULz5TJTYB2ryYUgTv65GEMCa7/view

Not sure if that'll help-out iGPU's, but it supposedly works on older NVidia cards from 900 series (such as GTX 960) and maybe below.
Dragon Quest XI S - Definitive Edition just became DRM-free on Steam; anyone want to test on Epic?

EDIT: I can confirm that it is indeed DRM-free on the Epic Store, too.

Follow-up about my post pertaining to Shadow Complex Remastered on Epic. There is a way to fix the game from resetting the settings when launching it with the "-AUTH_LOGIN= -AUTH_PASSWORD= -AUTH_TYPE=" command line argument, you need to block the exe's outbound internet connection through Windows Firewall. I've added the instructions on how to do that manually from Control Panel on PCGW and can confirm this fixes the issue of the resetting settings when re-launching the Epic version.

I have a quick question, For the games that this works for doesn't this also mean you can refund said games and still play them?

That would be illegal so if anyone wants to play games illegally then skip the middle part and just download a torrent. That's not what this thread is for.

was literally just asking a question trying to understand how exactly this stuff works, also would never download a torrent but thanks for this very helpful and insightful response :0

To answer your question, technically yes it would work but twifight is correct in pointing out that it's an awfully convoluted method of stealing a game and definitely not the intention of the thread which is simply about running games from the Epic Store (including the generous freebies) without the annoying client. Many stores that sell DRM-Free games (including GOG) with "no quibble" refund policy do have "fair use" monitoring, ie, if the normal average refund rate is say 1-2%, and you start requesting refunds for most of your purchases at a rate that's well above that, that's just going to end up with getting your account closed for fraud.

Have you ever heard of GOG closing an account just because some user used their refund option too often? I know that they decide on a case by case basis if they will refund the game in the end but it is the first time I heard that they actually closed an account because of overuse of the refund option.
