So I checked my email this morning and I get an email from paypal letting me know the steam summer sale is coming and that I should fill my paypal wallet now so I'm ready for the 11th!

Seeing that I don't use steam and have never created an account I have to figure this just is a blanket email to everyone using paypal. Do they have some kind of agreement with steam? Seems like that would be nice if everyone who used paypal got an email letting them know about the gog summer sale. I bet that would boost sales!
Lol, boost sales? Steam doesn't need that kind of promotion, it already has enough sales by being Steam;)

But yes, Paypal evey year promotes (leaks) Steam Sales so they have some kind of promotion business going on...

I meant boost sales for gog, I know steam doesn't need any help.

I don't think I noticed that email last year, interesting that they do it every year.

I use both PayPal and Steam and didn't get an email. Cheers for the heads up! Given I'm boycotting GOG, I can look forward to the Steam sale.

My bad, misread what you wrote. Don't think it would help too much in sales, people are too much found of their Steam account to switch to gog (or galaxy), it wouldn't be a paypal mention of gog that would change.

But yeah, every year i get to see Paypal leak the start of Steam sales (people usually find out before that but paypal confirms it).
Interesting, I did not get an email. Oh well. I have enough Steam games as it is lol.
The only emails I get from "PayPal" are the ones asking me for my entire life history to be entered in this little innocuous link here. ;)

So in two days, there will be another drain on my wallet. Hopefully, not as much as the GOG sale, but it's the impulse, oh-my-god-it's-so-cheap! buys that usually hit it. Although I am hoping to get some games off my Steam Wishlist.
So are PayPal data-mining my transactions and using my gOg purchase history to promote Steam, or does every PayPal customer - including those who do not buy games - get this message?

It appears two people already haven't gotten the email. I'm also wondering what caused me to receive this email. Perhaps people that already have a steam account didn't receive it?

Hopefully others will come along and say if they use steam and/or paypal and if they got the email.

Ah. For what it's worth, I've never bought a game directly from Steam, and have never (obviously) used PayPal there. But I have used it for gOg purchases. I think the email came in 3 days ago.
This was leaked a while ago I believe (On Eurogamer I think it was) so i'm already looking forward to the 11th and hope homeworld remastered gets a discount.

Sure. I'm unhappy with many of the changes over the past year or so(forums/"chat", Galaxy, regional pricing and restrictions), the most significant being the increase of regional pricing. I am no longer willing to support a company that purported to be against regional pricing, and then goes ahead and regionally prices its own games, ie The Witcher 3. That I can buy the game elsewhere more cheaply is ridiculous, ie Steam or even GOG codes via other resellers.

I was going to be calling it quits this month after I download all of my games again (external hard drive died), however with Bad Juju declaring bankruptcy last week(the new owner of Desura as of Nov 2014) my limited download limit will be focused on there.

I was going to hang around to be in touch with the community I enjoy interacting with here, but the changes to PMs and the forums had me change my mind about that. The chat system is an absolute pain in the arse.
