ZFR: Also, and for a strange reason this is why I dislike it most, it causes the Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 logo to appear for a seconds or two when the program is loaded when Windows starts. I find it annoying.
I would try disabling the automatic startup during login of any MB2-apps and then test launching them manually before using Alchemy.

Yeah, but that is even more trouble than it's worth.

hexaae: But AFAIK the old Alchemy Universal workaround can't emulate EAX 3.0 and EAX 4.0 (for example Thief: Deadly Shadows).

Dalthnock: I tried EAX Prince of Persia Sands of Time with and without a SoundBlaster, and with the on-board sound card, the echo effects inside the cave with the dagger were... I dunno, hollow, cold? Wheras with the Audigy 2 they sounded much richer.
POSSIBLY relevant.

I have noticed many people with my problem: During gameplay, character voice lines are low-volume/silent UNLESS the camera is right next to the speaking character.
Context: I am using on-board Realtek. I have tried adjusting the Audio Virtualization between NONE, LIGHT, and FULL. I have tried adjusting 3D Audio Hardware Acceleration to On and Off. Nothing works.
My question is: Does enabling EAX Creative ALchemy resolve these quiet voice lines?
