I thought that Maxis was shut down several months ago at least.
EDIT: And that that the brand name was scrapped at the time as well.

When EA buys something, just consider it dead. There are lots of small companies and indies worth your attention and support. There's a new Cities game coming out.

Without EA Maxis would have died years ago... same with most studios they bought up.
