Hi

Can someone help me with duplicated games issue?
For example - I have all addons for Neverwinter Nights EE - all DLCs and soundtracks (bought separately) but still can buy Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition Digital Deluxe Edition - and the content is the same.

Can I, don't know, hide some games from list?
On every sale I need to check if I have all content or no, the same is with DLC for Pillars of Eternity 2 - I have Obsidian, with all DLC, but stil can buy Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Explorer's Pack
Two days ago I bought The Sojourn Digital Deluxe Edition, which is the game+artwork.

Somehow, and I don't know how, I had a feeling that something wasn't right, so I checked my mails and realized I had already bought The Sojourn Gold Bundle,, which is the game+artwork+soundtrack, more than a year ago...

I immediately requested a refund, but who knows how many other games I double bought on GOG. I've been hoping for years that they would add an ignore/hide option, next to the wishlist one, but still nothing....

Yes, I've said it many times before and I'll probably be repeating it forever because I don't think the issue will be fixed: Buying things is very annoying if so many games are not marked as owned. And you know what happens when buying somewhere else is not only cheaper but less hassle as well?

Ignoring all those bundles and games with mini-bundles that cause troubles, all Fallout games except Fallout 4 are shown as unowned for me, although I have all of them.

Edit: Another related issue: What's the point of having a hide DLC option for sales when that still leaves multiple editions of every game in the list? Really annoying e.g. when making yesterday's new releases (almost) everything with a bundled soundtrack edition look really cluttered and inflated.

While additional filter options would be nice to have, this problem can be easily solved by taking those 10 seconds and typing the name of the respective game into the search field of your library to see what shows up. I wonder what people did in the days of retail copies. Ask the shopkeeper what games they already have at home?

no need to be rude - look at my image - typed Pilars of eternity ii in search bar
i have obsidian edition with explorer's pack included, but still can buy this pack

TBH - did you even wonder what people did in the days when there was no antibiotics?

This is an issue that has been a real problem with GOG for years.
It's unlikely that anyone but GOG can really fix it, and because they don't do it... well, it remains unfixed.

The sad thing here is that there's an easy fix to that: some button that marks the game owned. That would work with duplicates (although a real solution would be preferable) and also with games owned in other stores. If even Steam has such an option, why can't GOG?

Back in those days there weren't several different editions, usually two, if even that.
Also, there was no DLC, and very few games had some add-ons or mission disks.

Buying something that you already owned wasn't a real problem.

And there was even the mental factor: when you handled physical boxes, it was easier to remember what you had handled.

But I suppose your basic point is valid, it's buyer's responsibility in the end to know what to buy and what not to buy.

I believe Data grid view for gog.com store page has a custom blacklist option.

I certainly agree with the idea, though personally I'd suggest a more general tag along the lines of "Not Interested In". That said, iirc I suggested this to staff member jpolgesek previously and he basically said "easier said than done", which is fair enough. I get the unfortunate sense the backend/behind-the-scenes is a big mess, but I also believe staff are generally trying to do their best.

I could also see some higher-ups opposing this idea because people could accidentally press the button and GOG could lose out on money.

I agree. Have a similar problem with the original fallout games (1 and 2) plus Fallout New Vegas Ultimate Edition. Even though, I own these games, the catalogue does not show it unless I go to my owned games section.
Yes it is frustrating and I have been lucky so far.

More often than not though, it is when you get to the cart stage of a purchase, that duplicates are usually reported. That's probably saved my bacon quite a few times.

Because of how I do my records (and the structure of my backups), I would also quickly discover any duplication after purchase, and that has never happened.

Though I guess a very different game name for a duplicate, alphanumeric wise, could slip through.
Usually I know which games I own.
And if I'm unsure, it only takes seconds to check my account.

The earliest three Fallout games are good examples:
I own the "Classic" versions - but not the versions, that got re-released by Bethesda.
And why should I?
They're basically the same games (I think, as owner of the classic games, I even got some extras, that buyers of the re-released games don't get).

And, of course: if I put the re-released games in the cart, GOG won't "warn" me...and why would they?
1) they want to make money
2) they -naturally- assume, that I know, which games I own already

In case of different versions (standard, deluxe, etc) ,GOG should warn about a "double" purchase.

Usually with a text saying something like:
"Please note that "Game X Standard Edition" AND "DLC 1" is included in "Game X Deluxe Edition" but you already own this item, and will not receive another copy when you buy this pack."
