Did Defcon get a patch to do something about the DRM in the game? I remember they had to push an offline only mode or something for the game due to this, Please correct me if I'm mistaken on this, Thanks!

Edit : here is a link showing the fiasco on it. I do own a copy and I know it has offline only for me due to this.

Lifthrasil: [Multiplayer]

timppu: At the same time, the "competitive" side of Team Fortress 2 is apparently free of cheaters because in order to access it, you actually have to pay a bit of money (and I think also give your valid phone number). So it is the combination of requiring a small amount of money, and/or identification with your phone, that makes sure automated cheater bots can't get into the competitive multiplayer part, and human cheaters are wary of cheating on the competitive side either (because then they risk getting ban on an account where they have spent money).
Valve are mucking TF2 players about. They've gagged the "free 2 play" players and they can't even use the voice menus for premade alerts for medics and spies etc claiming it was against spam which were lies as there are other anti spam measures to reduce the problem.
The competitive side which you talk about attempts to harvest players phone numbers and rake in extra cash but CS:GO doesn't do it and most players have already payed for TF2 game items and have the premium status so why would they need to do extra to play competitive.
Not sure why they also disabled text chatting, probably because those cheater bots usually also spammed the text chat and used expletives like "ALL N-WORDS MUST DIE!!!" etc., trying to provoke people. Valve probably felt they will be sued by some SJW organization for allowing hate speech in their game, if they don't prevent it from happening at all.
It's probably those organisations that are doing it in the first place in order to force censorship.

Most of this isnt really DRM...

Please feel free to point out anything in the list that is factually wrong.
The following thread is also relevant for this thread and the thread about DRM-free multiplayer:

"Games that need Galaxy for multiplayer and the ones that don't"
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts comes with EasyAntiCheat (EAC), according to the reviews. I don't have the game, but SarahGabriella should know more about it.

Lifthrasil: Which content? I don't have the game myself, so I can't check. Is single-player content locked behind online only? Or is it just the multiplayer (PvP) part?

Swedrami: A whole bunch of techniques, moves and such, of one particular "school" is only attainable through multiplayer. Some items (weapons, apparel, etc) as well, iirc.
Also, I just want to remind that EAC is SILENTLY INSTALLED EVEN THROUGH OFFLINE INSTALLERS, despite no reason to have it in the first place, since the offline instaler version can't be played online without galaxy, with no user prompt; the only way to safely install absolver without infecting your pc with this spyware/keylogger is to install it through a virtual machine and then copy the whole game folder, baring the EAC instalaltion, obviously.

What can I say? GOG dropped the ball hard on this one (oh and let's not forget the "funny" disclaimer on the GOG storepage "The single-player mode pits you, and you alone, against lost Prospects and legendary warriors in the ruins of the Adal empire - complete with all content, free of interactions and encounters with other players. ")

complete with all contrent my ass.

Alternatively, the offline installers can be unpacked with innoextract.

Holy cow, thank you so much for telling me about this!
Just wanted to also say thank you for taking this on. On top of the work involved in itself, it's also a pretty... depressing task.

fronzelneekburm: I'd like to preemptively extend my gratitude for the work you'll put into this and keep my fingers crossed that this list may never grow as long as the 2nd class mix did!
Oh, please. When has GOG halted itself once starting down a slippery slope?

Time4Tea: For the multiplayer list: Alien Versus Predator Classic 2000 states the following on the store page:

Multiplayer Notice: Please note that the GOG Galaxy Client is required to access Multiplayer

Multiplayer is available only between GOG.com users.
AvP Gold has tcp/ip,modem,serial options in its multiplayer section.
I think discussion in this thread should stick to SP DRM only, since it's the topic in the title. MP by its nature is somewhat DRM-like and besides, there are threads dedicated to that already. What's important now is to highlight the slow drift toward DRM in GOG policies despite it's stance as a DRM-free seller.

Lifthrasil: Will you make a CD-keyed games thread?
Yeah, if that'd be helpful, I can make a thread compiling a list of all such games (key required for multiplayer); though I won't personally be actively looking for such games, if people mention them I'll add them.

Does it actually work though? I though the whole reason for the galaxy multiplayer beta was that the original multiplayer was broken? Maybe I've been misled..

Actually, it was pointed out to me that such a list already exists:

If Gragar is still around, he might revive the list. If not, you might copy what he has so far.

Apparently Defcon was fixed so that the DRM doesn't work anymore.
