So I've been playing Shadow Warrior 2013 lately and loving it far more than I even expected to... and I come across in-game adverts for, amongst other things, Hard Reset. I'd known of it's existance but never looked into it until now.

Why the frack is this game not here? It looks freaking gorgeous.

I've seen a few dead threads about this game, but I was wondering if anyone has since got any actual word out of the dev about why this game is languishing on Steam, and even more alarming, in a half-arsed incomplete state on Desura?

Is it because of friggin' Steamworks? Is there a contract? I find it exceedingly frustrating seeing adverts inside a game on GOG for a game I have no way of purchasing here, especially when it looks that good. :s

It's also been DRM-free in bundles, so I really can't say why it's not here. :/

EDIT: Apparantly the bundled version was not the Extended Edition, but the existence of an enhanced Extended Edition that wasn't bundled before would be one more reason for GOG to release it here despite its age and a possible decrease in interest due to the bundling.

Well, what can I say. Desura only has the non-Extended Edition, while Steam has the full version. There is a retail version of the Extended Edition, published by Kalypso that can be played without any Internet, but it can be quite the nag.

I've sent them one or two messages in the past, never got a response.

I don't think any of us really know.
This is really sad, they could at least release the extended edition on Desura...
Honestly, "looks gorgeous" is about the only good thing I could say about this game. Its like someone threw a fresh coat of paint on a mediocre twitch fps from the early 00's. I got incredibly bored with it after about a half hour and haven't played it since. I don't think it has been a very big seller, even on a storefront as large as Steam, which may be why it has been all but abandoned and not available here.

If it's been all but abandoned, why does shadow warrior contain not just posters for it, but arcade cabinets with images from it? Clearly the developer has a soft spot for their own game, so why not give it a go on here? There's nothing to lose.

I always felt it was more like a tech demo for their engine than a real game.

There's nothing really to gain either. Hard Reset is not one of those games that legions of fans have been clamoring for here or elsewhere. Sure the devs might have a soft spot for it (it was their very first game as a company), but that doesn't change the fact that it is probably destined to be one of those games forgotten in the bottom of the discount bin.

Exactly!

Desura version is a proper version, its simply the Full Version without the only DLC they released.
So what? it doesn't have the DLC... come on, lets not be that picky.
Don't forget this is GOG, this is DRM-Free, and we are not among the strong/powerful majority

As for its quality, yes its not a masterpiece or even a great game but it definitively has a place here.
I can name a few FPSes sold here that are far inferior.
Its clearly a must for Painkiller fans cause it the only game that you feel is truly "related" to PK
Its clearly a must for Blade Runner fans cause it captures that memorable immersive sci-fi scenery

Why isn't it here?
Haven't got a clue... and it can be anything...
But lets not forget something very important, when it comes to FPSes GOG sales are weak...
Just look at the charts and you will reach the same conclusion, so basically that means FPS releases here are not a priority to anyone including GOG themselves
Obligatory wishlist link: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/hard_reset
Its overrated, overhyped and honestly, a very, very mediocre, game.

RPGs definitely seem to be more interesting to this crowd; however, some of the catalog's bestsellers on the first two pages are Duke Nukem 3D, Deus Ex, Blood, Painkiller, etc.

I just counted... we have more less 50 FPSes selling here
50 in 1000... that is 5%
enough said :)
