Not anymore, no. FEAR and the modern Shadow Warrior games are the only recent shooters i have enjoyed.
I come from the old guard of Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Quake, Unreal, Shogo and ofc all the Build engine ones.
i am not at all into competitive gaming anymore (not since Quake 3 and UT99 that is).

I will say though that i am pretty excited about Ion Maiden after having played the preview campaign as it hits all the right spots for me. Intricate level design, Health paks instead of autoregen and more than 4 weapons in the inventory just to name a few.

"Do you play modern AAA shooters?" is the real question.
Everyone here has or still plays retro FPS.

LOVED The Shadow Warrior reboot. FEAR bored the piss out of me. :P And yes, I realize I'm in the minority there. "Good Taste" and "tinyE" rarely if ever get used in the same sentence. :D

On the plus side, after FEAR 1 my knowledge in plumbing and office decoration improved greatly! :D
Honestly? I'm a fan of good games first, and genre second, but I do like a well written/designed RPG or ARPG with solid mechanics. I probably spend the most time with TBS strategy games like HoMM, AoW, Disciples, Steel Panthers, Eador and the like, but close behind it are games like Path of Exile, TQ, Grim Dawn and Fallout.

I'm a sucker for GTA as well, as I really enjoy exploring open worlds, as a sort of throwback to the types of games I'd play growing up, that had many sandbox elements. (Space exploration adventures, I'm looking right at you.) Specifically, Sentinel Worlds, Hard Nova, Wasteland (Not space, but open world and futuristic,) Starflight, Star Control, etc.

Right behind that are well done 2D fighting games, platformers and metroidvanias, with Castlevania right there at the top of that list. I own both a PSP and a DS specifically for Castlevania games, if that tells you anything.

Then yes, I do enjoy a good FPS when I want just some mindless action/destruction. It just depends on my mood, much like the types of music I listen to, which also heavily depend on my mood.

tl;dr: Yeah, I play them and grew up with Wolf 3D, Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Quake, Duke3D, Chasm, Strife, Blood, Fear and Shadow Warrior. I guess I'm just not as passionate about them as I used to be.

XD

Okay I needed a good laugh and you gave me one. XD

THANK YOU
I play pretty much all genres including shooters. I like the more old school (90's to early 2000's) designed shooters myself. I liked some modern ones such as the first three entries in the Gears series, but by the end of that gen i'd gotten really burned out on modern shooters. I don't even want to see another Gears or Halo lol. Though on rare occasions i'll find a modern shooter I really get into, like Payday 2 for example.

Quake running in the Quakespasm port is what I was playing a ton of recently. The Arcane Dimensions campaign mod is so good. It needs to be an official expansion release.

Yes, although I've acquired my taste for it pretty late. I watched friends play Doom and Wolfenstein and Quake as a teenager, but I was never all that into the genre myself. It's only during the last 6 years or so that I've started to delve into it more deeply and catch up a bit.

I don't care for heroic military shooters though or anything closer to reality. I prefer arcade style, Sci Fi, Wild West, dystopian, fantasy/mild horror shooters etc. Some titles that I've played through and liked (using the term "shooter" very loosely):

- Iji (2D, side-scrolling, TP, free)
- Doom (1993, FPS)
- Saints Row The Third, IV and Gat out of Hell (TP, open world)
- Enclave (I count it as a shooter since I mostly used ranged weapons)
- Tomb Raider 2013 + Rise of the Tomb Raider (not really a shooter, but it has shooting and Lara going on a killing spree)
- Mass Effect series (same as above, not a pure shooter, but has cover based TP shooter gameplay)
- Hotline Miami (top down, RT tactical)
- Far Cry 3+4+Primal (FP, open world)
- BioShock + BS Infinite (story oriented FPS)
- Binary Domain (story oriented cover based shooter)
- Max Payne 1+2 (TPS)
- The Darkness II (story oriented FPS)
- XIII (FPS)
- Half-Life 2 (FPS)
- Hunted: The Demon's Forge (linear TP fantasy shooter)
- RAGE (not really open world, but includes missions and driving/vehicle combat)
etc.

Btw, I don't think there's a lack of shooter fans on GOG, I think people on GOG are just the type that would prefer Doom/Quake/Duke Nukem 3D, or even S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and similar to streamlined modern military shooters like Call of Duty, and they're also more of a single- than multiplayer crowd.

Does The Guardian Legend count?

How about something like classic Mega Man?

How about the origina Wasteland, or the classic Fallout games (1, 2, and Tactics)?

(These games let you shoot guns, but are not generally considered FPS or TPS.)
Not FPS, no. But I do enjoy the occasional TPS. Games like Spec Ops:The Line, Binary Domain, the Mass Effect series, Fallout 3, Fallout NV, Fallout 4 (if you consider them shooters), I've enjoyed the hell out of many of them. Have a number stacked up in the backlog as well.
Pure shooters not really, they must have some rpg-like elements, like Deus Ex or the Stalker games.
I like the Jedi Knight games though, and recently played the original Dark forces as well (which is surprisingly good).

Can't get around classic FPS, it's just make my head spun and dizzy. Half-Life was my first proper FPS experience.

I played shooters a LOT more when I was younger, but now-a-days I pretty much stick with RPG and adventure games. I don't think that's a reflexes thing at all, just preferences and limited time. I still love RPG/FPS hybrids like Deus Ex though.
