Greetings everyone. I recently post a negative review about the game Pillars of Eternity almost 3 days ago but it doesnt show yet. Do you need to own the game to be able to review it? I am reading a lot reviews saying that they dont own the GOG version so I am confused. Or is GOG team deliberately canceling negative reviews for some games? I have around 175 games in my GOG library and this was the second time I wrote a review on a game.

Thanks for the answer.
It does take some time for reviews to appear, but never that long. Try contacting support I suppose. And no, you don't need to own a game. A shame - I'm trying to get as many negative opinions on Pillars as possible, they're hard to come by.
Thank you Fenixp, that was what I wanted to hear. Then GOG is deliberately not approving negative reviews. Thats why its hard to come by. My friends review didnt appear either.

I think that's unlikely - I've had positive reviews I've tried to post that disappeared into the ether.

And there are several other 1-2 star reviews posted for PoE. Hard to imagine they have a master plan to weed out yours but left others up.

edit - just went to check and the 4 star Din's Curse review I tried to post a week ago still isn't showing. I have no idea why certain reviews aren't posting, but I don't think they're trying to suppress negative reviews.

Nah, it's probably some sort of bug - GOG never were into censorship, they were always a bit incompetent. As for good reception it's getting, it's not just GOG, it's IGN, Metacritic, Steam, people love it everywhere. Hell, I love the game, I'm just trying to form a bit more balanced opinion.

Hmm, so you are saying this happened to you too. Maybe you are right, it was just a technical issue. I love GOG. I told all of my friends about it. I support so much that when I had a free Witcher 2 code i couldnt find anybody that doesnt already own it. So it was annoying when I wrote a review and it wasnt posted.

Never posted one myself, but the reviews section does seem to be one of the buggiest things on GoG. There is pretty much a thread every week about how someones review has disappeared.
Thank you everyone for your replies. I was so mad that I would almost stop buying games from GOG. Now I am relaxed thanks to your messages.
If memory serves, in the past I am able to sort the reviews by recent or most helpful.

Now I can only see in a default format and need to sort through pages to judge where is the more recent review.

True. It was a very good function since I loved checking recent messages. Sorting them out by recent was very helpful. I love reading reviews about games more than playing them.
Frankly, I stopped writing reviews because usually 2 out of 3 were lost in abyss and not showing. I wrote a support ticket, they said they had known this bug but it would take time to fix it. Apparently it's still here.
I wrote only one review for Bloodrayne, but I'm a bit lazy to write them and I would prefer a kind of reward (some cents for example) in exchange of a review, positive or negative, like on shinyloot.
I wrote a semi-negative review of a game and gave it four stars. It didn't appear, and I thought it was filtered out because I included a link to my forum post detailing problems with the game. After about two days of not giving a damn, I decided to write to Support but checked the review section before filing a ticket, and there it was.
I just checked and the 3 star review I posted for Nox 3-4 weeks ago never posted either. So I think I'm 0 for 2 on products I've bothered to stop and write a review for here. /shrug

Suppose I could make a ticket, but a lot of my comments are repeated in other reviews, and the system is recording that I gave it a star value. No way to tell if it's weighted into the overall star average, but also no reason to think it isn't.

FWIW, during the insomnia sale even a number of my forum posts didn't "take." Their comment/review system seems pretty unusual in that it launches a new pop-up browser window rather than just being embedded.

That said, maybe not as much as Steam, but even with negative reviews that post on popular games here on gog, they tend to get downvoted by the community even if they are factually accurate. Personally I care less that someone says they liked or didn't like a feature and that their opinion matches mine, and more that they bother to describe it in a useful way.

The Pillars of Eternity reviews are interesting because pretty universally all the reviews seem to have <50% "useful" ratings. Long, detailed 4 star review? 40%. Similarly detailed 2 star review? 30%. One sentence "Loved it!" review? 35%

This was mentioned in another thread by skeecher. Taken from an 'Act of War' review, "Had a really fun time beating it...".
