Gamesrocket are liars, plain and simple. Do not support them.

I decided to take a gamble on their copy of Ghostbusters: The Video Game, as their game card blatantly states it is "DRM FREE".

It is not.

Once I went through their ridiculous hoops to even complete my download (Seriously, they insist on Photo identification before you can make any purchases), I go to my games and immediately notice the terrifying sign of a "KEY" below the download links.

The fucking game requires online activation via a LIMITED USE KEY.

After angrily telling them of the DRM they sold me, this is the response I got:

Dear Customer,

yes but this is just a copy protection.

Kind Regards

I am absolutely disgusted.

Do not support these lying bastards.

Any online store that insists in looking at your photo ID is definitely shady to me. Unauthorized grey market reseller, at best.

Agreed, they claim that security is the number one defining feature of their store, or so the PR guy tells me.

I so desperately want to own a legit copy of this particular game (some other GOGers have been curious about this site/game as well) that I thought I'd take a shot, despite some red flags. Lesson well and truly learned.

I guess your only option is a retail copy.
Hmm well that sucks, although if you paid via Paypal you can at least get your money back.

Retail copies use the same limited activation key DRM as the GR download. :/

Unless you mean the console versions, because I do own this game on Xbox 360, but dammit, I love this game and want to legitimately experience it with high resolution and high framerate on PC.

They did just refund me, so there's that. But I wouldn't recommend anybody buy from a service that doesn't even understand what they're selling.

I did NOT have sexual relations with that woman. All I did was put my peepee in her vajayjay, but we totally didn't have sex.

no offense, but you'd rather attempt buying from these dodgy folks than Steam? Seriously?

It patently said DRM free on this one specific game, the store's reviews from other sources list them as a legitimate business, and I was not the only GOG user who wanted to know if they were viable as a retailer.

I took a punt.

Indeed, it's ok til it goes side ways.

I wonder how they define DRM then.

Anyway thanks for sharing the experience. Won't buy with them.
How the hell do you provide a photo ID on line?

I was trying to think of that one myself. Webcam?!

They want a scan of some form of ID with a photo (card/passport etc) along with a photo of yourself.
