One thing I would bet on:
Twenty years from now, The priginals DInsey animated films will be regarded as masterpieced, but the live action and ultra relaisitic cgi remakes will be forgotten,no matter how much money they make.

No doubt about that. I've recently seen Aladdin 2019, and I have no interest in ever watching it again. Will Smith's performance is not even in the same galaxy as Robin William's.

Lebesgue: Damn it. I've just noticed that The Lion King and Aladdin were removed from gog. I was fortunate enough to grab The Lion King a while back but missed on Aladdin... What a shame...

I really wish that gog would inform us if a game was about to be taken down.
You could almost say that the Genie slipped out of his lamp on this one ;). Cheers

Aren't we all? But GOG don't want to change this due to reasons, some speculate that it's related to corporate ethics/interests, PR and such.

I'm afraid that GOG were informed by Disney with 2 days advance notice. You may find other threads with more lengthy "last chance" notice, some games were removed with only a few hours of prior notice, some were delisted immediately (silently). It's definitely not GOG's choice.
For some reason Disney forgot to mention about the exclusion of Disney The Jungle Book and now we have an exclusive which is not available on Steam. I wonder for how long.

I personally think that the best way of informing would be to have threads with big exclamation marks about delisting and chat messages to all who have games in question in their wishlist sent by GOG automated system or bots.

At least we have something, haven't heard about other digital stores informing their clients of game delisting.

Honestly I thought Smith did fine and his performance was definately the highlight of the movie, which overall was ok-ish I'd say. The original is vastly superior of course, but I'd be interested in seeing a sequel to the live action version with the same cast and a whole new plot.

I wish more of those live-action Disney films followed the Maleficent and Winni-the-Pooh approach, that is make entirely new movies with new ideas rather than outright remake the animated film shot for shot, song for song. I honestly think Christopher Robin is a great and delightful little film. But of course it barely turned a profit while Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Lion King bring in billions.
could always just get them on a emulator or buy a megadrive off ebay

GameRager: They did...hence this thread.

They should but legally they likely can not do that(due to contracts with rights holders). That is why one should do due diligence and check the forums every so often.
This happened while I was out of town for a while. I don't think I'd've bought them anyway, but, it's always sad to see games go.
I only got Aladdin but I would like to get also the lion king in the future... I only saw this thread now... what a shame.
Not sure why they removed them... they released them on gog not long ago.
You know, these types of news would be more helpful if you posted them in the news sections and not the forums.
Good news were going to get Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King this Fall.

If you watch the trailer it is only for steam according to the logo displayed on the bottom...

True but I think it just a matter of time till we get to see it here.

Cool!

If it's Steam-only then why would Disney have released their games here in the first place? are they suddenly scared of DRM-free?

It's finally on GOG:

I know some are complaining about the pricing but I think this game collection worth getting.
