Anyone remember NetStorm? There's a spiritual successor to it on Kickstarter:

I'm a bit excited because I loved the hell out of Netstorm. It was an RTS that used some tower defence ideas before I even remember tower defence being a thing. The battles were fought entirely with stationary turrets connected by bridges, all floating the in the sky.

Wasn't NetStorm mostly a multiplayer-centric game?
I remember the game rather fondly. The only thing that was rather frustrating was collapsing bridges but I still had a lot of fun. I will monitor this KS campaign

Yes. Late 90s. Quirky RTS. It was a brief affair. But now it's over. However if GOG resurrected it, it might be worth a dollar or two.

Yes, as this looks to be.

It was kept going for years by the fans actually. Not only did they run its servers, they updated the game.

I meant it was a brief affair for me. But I did enjoy it. :-)

Ah yeah! I've been assured that the new game will have LAN support and direct IP self serving, so at least there's a backup if they run out of money to run the servers at some point.
