So I have two games here which I know for a fact that GOG already has the files necessary to update them.

I also know for a fact that almost two weeks ago galaxy versions of these games have been updated, but not offline installers.

And here I am, almost two weeks later with my games still not updated, and impossible to finish.

Is updating the game on galaxy that much easier and less time consuming than offline installers?

Or is it safe to assume that it's just a deceitful ploy created by GOG overlords in order to discourage offline installers users from using them and phase them out?

They are preparing for December 10th.
Welcome to the club, take a moment to sit in the pool and simmer in GOG's baffling practices.

ChrisGriffin: ...
Could have been useful to actually mention which games you are talking about.

Maybe it's the developers' fault?

I remember that at launch, Baldur's Gate 3 didn't have offline installers for MAC, i am assuming they have been introduced since then, but still, the very small group of GOG users that uses MAC and offline installers might have felt persecuted. But it wasn't GOG's fault

Is this about Kingdom Rush? I don't see any new builds on Galaxy.

GOG:
Kingdom Rush, Galaxy and standalone installer: 4.2.15 (2020-08-04)
Kingdom Rush: Frontiers, Galaxy and standalone installer: 1.4.4a (2017-05-18, Windows), 1.4.4 (2016-12-21, Mac, Linux)

From https://github.com/cigumo/krli/wiki/Changelog (Wiki/Public issues tracker for Kingdom Rush games):
kr1-desktop-4.2.33 [2020-11-03 Tue] - Standalone / GOG
kr2-desktop-4.2.33 [2020-11-03 Tue] - Standalone / GOG
Have you contacted GOG support yet?

Yes. This is about these two games.

And yes, I've contacted support, but all they give is the same generic response.

I know your problem quite well. You're talking about Kingdom Rush and Kingdom Rush Frontiers.
Unfortunately, what you're saying about them is not accurate at all.
According to GOG Database, the offline installers and Galaxy versions of those games are of the same version, and all outdated.
Here's the proof ("builds" = versions handled on Galaxy, "downloads" = version of installers):
https://www.gogdb.org/product/1195536024#builds
https://www.gogdb.org/product/1195536024#downloads
https://www.gogdb.org/product/1207665283#builds
https://www.gogdb.org/product/1207665283#downloads
https://www.gogdb.org/product/1519221611#builds
https://www.gogdb.org/product/1519221611#downloads

If, in the worst case, GOG is actively trying to push people away from offline installers, then they should have updated the Galaxy versions instead, shouldn't they? But they didn't. Which means your assumption (at least in this case) is incorrect.

I know the developers claim that they "sent the files to GOG already". If that's true, then the new updates must have been on Galaxy already (GOG has never ever denied the updating of a game on Galaxy). However, it was never updated there. So we can assume the developers are being dishonest here and shifting the blame, just like the dozen others that treat GOG customers as "second-class citizens".

I understand that you're frustrated about not being able to update your favorite games, but spreading disinformation helps with nothing.

I have the proof to the contrary.

So is GOG just lying to me?

You are neglecting the possibility that developers are still using the process that always existed (and almost definitely still exists) before Galaxy came to be: developers send their files to GOG, and GOG eventually packages & releases the update.

I don't understand why so many GOG users always immediately rush to blame the developers, when it's been known and shown over and over again for years now that GOG sometimes takes their dear time to update things.. (and sometimes forgets about it completely until users start harassing support again).

I see this same exact behavior on reddit, everyone just immediately downvotes ChrisGriffin and blames the developer. What a nice community we have over there.

I understand that you're frustrated about not being able to update your favorite games, but spreading disinformation helps with nothing.
It doesn't sound like you're fully informed so.. it goes both ways. Maybe don't call it disinformation if you don't actually know what's going on behind the scenes.

Well if you are harrassing support no wonder they dont. If some one kept saying nasty things to me that wanted me to do something, i dont think it would make me want to do it any faster ;).

There's no way to even track tickets at the time, nor their progression. Regular nudges to the support team are a problem they've caused.
