It doesn't matter much. As far as I am concerned, Gothic 2 gold is the best game in the series, but 3 wil give you the taste and feeling of it.

I've read such reviews, and that seems to be the consensus, but I've always wondered do people count the third one with the community patch or not. Guess I'll delve a bit deeper into this if I end up enjoying it.

Pardinuz: I'm in for Forsaken Gods.

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten around to playing any of the Gothics yet. Gothic 2 and 3 have been sitting on my library for a while but that's about to change since I just used the $9,99 code I was rewarded for winning the Toonstruck contest to purchase Gothic 1 and get started with this highly-praised series.

I didn't buy Forsaken Gods together with 2 and 3 due to the completely mixed reviews, but for the sake of completionism I appreciate the chance to own it as well and see for myself which side of the critics is right.

I've read Gothic is even more immersive than TES so I'm pretty excited to get it started as soon as I'm done with the current games I'm playing.

Forsaken Gods not only has bad reviews, it does not belong to a series of Gothic. I'm a fan of Gothic series, and I regret that once bought Forsaken Gods. Until now, I use them as a stand under tea)))
I would never advise you to get and the more so to play in Forsaken Gods hehe
