I missed this thread for 3 days? Wow...

Well something like 3 months ago, I've started forcing myself to workout. Add to that a change in my diet (taking old vitamins pills, some supplements, mostly eating my own cooked food, etc) and I've managed to lose close to 20 pounds.

The exercise is 8 sets of pushups and 7 sets of situps which I've upped the number on twice already. Currently 18 situps per set (144) and 22 for situps (154). I also use an air bike for 20 minutes while watching Anime.

Eating less, cooking my own food... things are pretty good, although I still have 20 pounds to lose...

cooking your own food is huge; that way you know exactly what you are putting into yourself. and grats, you are halfway there!

Less what you're putting in yourself, and more what you're NOT putting in yourself :P

Lots of potatoes, onions, and cabbage. Although I do make myself quickie meals. I'll have to calculate the cost of the meal sometime as well as how fast it takes to make and put a picture up here.
December's definitely a month that's adding to my weight again but I was kind of counting on that, next month will be dedicated to losing it again :)

LOL you sound like me ;) I generally "let myself go" a bit during the winter months. I don't work out as much and I splurge a bit more with eating (larger portions). After the holidays I tend to go back to more normal portions and switch back into a more aggressive "workout mode" to get ready for summer.

What can I say, I like to preserve the old ingrained animal DNA memory of bulking up and hibernating for winter ;)

I do walk an awful lot daily and hit trails too during winter, so that's what passes for my minimal workout. Plus occasional shoveling and a ski trip - and skating here and there. Actually, hopefully I need to dust off the skates soon come to think of it!

Fairfox: Finally stopped gettin' up at, liek, 4:30am to walk for two hours. Too cold 'n' it was takin' its toll on my fragile frame. I've aaalso tried to eat better (...as in moar) lately but it's scary putting weight on.
Sorry to ask bluntly, but do you have an eating disorder? Two hour walks every morning and "trying to eat better"... Hopefully I am just reading too much into it. Don't be too hard on yourself.

Putting on weight isn't scary at all, I do that every now and then. It is more like sometimes I just forget to eat, like two days ago I ate a small breakfast (a small oatmeal, one apple and coffee)... and the next time I "remembered" to eat was around 8pm.

My BMI currently appears to be 29.38 which is on the upper side of "slightly obese", almost at "remarkably obese"... but I don't feel fat! I tend to think lots of it is muscle, even though I don't even go to gym at the moment. Oh and I have a rather big head too which must weight a ton.

Fairfox: Imma still thin as all heck but put many a pound on lately :/. Scared.
I'd <3 'food pills' too so I can forget about it, as long as they made you totes full.

For me exercise is a necessity; I dooon't enjoy it but do it all. teh. tiem. because I feel I has to. Mah body doesn't appreciate it whatsoever. Oh no. No, no, no, sir.
Pics or it never happened. :P

It's almost as if there's a social construct set up to encourage people to resolve to lose the weight they've gained over the holidays, at the start of the new year.

Almost. :p

I'm not one for following many social constructs usually but between these treats appearing a month or so before the 5th of December "Sinterklaas" celebration here, and these treats showing up right after that till new years it's hard to maintain weight for me since I love eating both xD

Luckily they're not there all year round, though I guess if they were perhaps I'd excercise more restraint than splurge in these end of year months.

(It was a joke. This is what I was referring to. Are they not a tradition where you live?)

Right, somewhat I guess? People mention it sometimes but it's not something I ever took seriously. I guess it's kind of a new years resolution in that sense but for me not because of new years or anything but just because the treats that come with it happen to disappear when it happens xD
When I was in middle school, a teacher told me that I'd be dead in a few years if I didn't change my eating habits. I suppose my diet since has been mostly spite-based. But it works! I like to think that I'm forcing my metabolism to keep up by challenging it with pizza and ice cream and cheeseburgers. Don't want it becoming lazy and complacent dealing with the soft lifting of vegetables or whatever the health nuts are into these days.

Besides, wintertime is the best for exercise. You can push yourself so much harder than during the hotter times of year without feeling like you're about to pass out.

Interesting - I actually like a good sweat during the summer. I don't run any more (and never really ran much - I know people swear by it but it really is murder on the lower body) but when I did I found it much more difficult in the cold. Frigid air in the lungs and just weird stiffness / aches. Of course, I bet like 80% of this is climate related - I know I said I like a summer sweat, but I'm sure you'd have a different take if you live somewhere that summer is weeks / months on end of 90+ and insane humidity! Days like that I can understand feeling totally draining. Even simple things feel difficult. I can actually remember one day last summer where I was outside on a weekend and I'm going nuts trying to figure out why everything felt so damn hard ("Am I getting sick? I didn't go drinking until 2am last night did I? Have I eaten today?" LOL) before I realized I was totally drained because the humidity had sucked all the energy out of me (and probably a few pounds of water to boot).
Considering that I very nearly threw up while walking my dog last night because I twisted my knee wrong...I just wish I could do more of my normal everyday stuff without pain right now. :(

Radial meniscus tear that needs surgery, but my insurance is insisting that I go through physical therapy first, which has done absolutely nothing to help. *rolls eyes* Been living with this since the start of October, pretty tired of it at this point.
