In preparation of New MicroProse's upcoming Redux remaster, possibly maybe?
Should they finally decide to release on GoG again, that is.

Yea, Microprose is in the making/publishing of a couple of B-17 games. One is a remaster of this title, other is modern remake (with possibility to fly the Liberator also - or so was promised early in the development at least). Third title is a VR-only I think.

Removal of the original is weird though. On steam you can still get this game + the classic one from 92 even. Good games, more of a management than pure flight sim. But you could fly, or be a gunner, navigator, etc. Was pretty immersive back in the day.

If you want a good book about what B-17s were like, I highly recommend Combat Crews by John Comer. You can find it on Audible.

My grandpa was a pilot for these and I wanted to understand his experience a bit better.

Bagged especially one only wonders how much they will overcharge for the remaster. I've heard a good job was done with Powerslave but it's still $20 plus they didn't fully copy the Saturn layout, not the look but a complete level and gameplay option like that from what I read.

I was saddened by the delisting until I saw this. Love this game!

Why there is no RSS/eMail newsletter exclusively for delisted games on GOG? It bugs me.

And worrying, if MicroProse intend to pull similar stunts with their other games (e.g. Civilization series, Master of Orion) since they did publish a lot of classic games.

On the other hand - delisted games have been known to return to GOG, such as StarTopia. And this could be a (rather perverse) marketing strategy - raising visibility of an older game (and its incoming successor) plus collecting data (from sales) to measure customer interest in further development.

The current MicroProse has nothing to do with the older company. They hardly own any of the old stuff, aside B-17 Flying Fortress and Carrier Command.

The most likely reason why this game is removed is because the original publisher (Retroism) can no longer sell the game.

So MicroProse is like Atari, itself only in name. How many other companies are like this? Wondering in case that someone may want to backup the others just in case.

Yeah, I wonder if publishers make more in sales when games are announced for delisitng than they would for a long time otherwise, especially the slightly more obscure ones like this..
