I guess I can give up waiting for an official "everything is now fixed" message.

Evidently GOG would prefer it swept under the rug. Apart from deleting this thread, they seem to be doing their best to pretend this didn't even happen.

Having a pre-activated game that still checks home, to make it seem like it's DRM free is incredibly dodgy sounding. You pride yourself on selling games without DRM yet here you clearly chose to sell a game with hidden DRM in the hopes that no one would notice. In a way, it's a GOOD thing that the developers revoked the key as it clearly exposed/demonstrated your companies lack of diligence in ensuring what it sells is DRM free.

You can't hide from this lol, you're in a black & white situation here, no gray zone.

Yeah, pre-activation is ok if the activation is permanent but if it can be 'deactivated' remotely then it's extremely dodgy.

Still beats GOG's Good news! ™ announcements :p

Yup. Apparently GOG's DRM-free policy doesn't extend to Linux users as they're still selling the Linux version with DRM.

SirPrimalform: Update 03/08/15: Hooray, GOG finally processed my refund. As far as I understand, the Linux version has yet to have the DRM removed.

Update 01/07/15: The key has been un-revoked by the developer, but that doesn't solve the underlying problem that the game has active DRM.
The game has had DRM the entire time it was here, it just didn't become obvious until the developer cancelled the key GOG had used in the installer. The fact that the key has been reactivated has in no way removed the DRM. GOG has apparently asked the developer for a DRM-free version, but continues to sell the version that they know has DRM.

Pretty damn annoyed here. Sent a fairly detailed email to support about DEFCON's DRM issue, explaining the problems and offering a couple of ways they could solve it.

Got a copy paste reply back today

Please go to your account:
https://www.gog.com/account
click on DEFCON, click MORE > SERIAL KEYS
now launch the game, go to Options > Authentication and enter the key from your account.

SirPrimalform: So, use the key you should only have to use to play multi-player to be able to play single-player. In other words "put up with the DRM".

For people who aren't aware of the error, GOG 'defeated' DEFCON's DRM by making it install pre-activated. The problem is that it still phones home and that the developer has cancelled the key that GOG used to pre-activate it. So you install the game and it immediately tells you that your key has been revoked. Your options from that point are either

1. Play the game in demo mode
2. Activate the game using the multi-player key in your GOG account

Not only is GOG selling a game with completely active DRM, they're apparently not at all bothered about fixing it as their advice is just to put up with online activation.

I've obviously asked for a refund, as the game was sold as DRM-free. I'm sure they'll give me a refund to hopefully shut me up, but really they owe everyone who bought it a refund because it was missold as DRM-free.

Sorry if the post is a little incoherent, I'm feeling angry about this at the moment and I'm also kind of ill.

EDIT: I don't think this is indicative of a policy shift, but possibly support staff who aren't paid enough.
Nearly 3 months passed and still this problem didn't solve . Weird :S
As this isn't DRM-Free it should be one the site in the first place, and should be removed immediately and everyone who's bought it under false pretenses, refunded.

..and the developer told to take his bullshit tactics and Fuck off.

Do Not Like.

Pissed off that it says this "DRM-FREE. No activation or online connection required to play. " on the page. Blatent fucking lies.

This is a bandwagon worthy of jumping on.

How many other games have GOG pulled this kind of shit on?

I thought this was fixed a while ago? I downloaded the new build after they said so, and it didn't give me any activation problems.

It was apparently fixed for Windows and Mac, but not for Linux. What are you using?

Ah, well I guessed you answered your own question. :)
For a moment I thought there could be light at the end of the tunnel as the Linux build of DEFCON has just been updated on Humble.

But after downloading and unpacking it I realized it's the exact same version as before, only that this time they've packed a .sh installer, two DEB and two RPM packages (32-bit and 64-bit) in a single tarfile. :\
Well, I think I have read everything in this thread, and this is what I got. Please correct me if I am wrong:

1. The Linux version has not been patched yet
2. DRM is still active, though Introversion allow all single games
3. LAN games are out of question to everyone involved (even if you redirect /etc/hosts or use a firewall? I am not sure about that)

Sad face emoji to GOG and Introversion banned from future purchases -I was going to buy Prison Architect today-. Maybe asking for money back from DEFCON and Multiwinia (it seems that it has the same problem). I cannot complain about Darwinia, that does seem to have DRM.

Did this ever get fixed?
