I remember how everyone was so much excited for this game, just imagine - a new FPS from the makers of Quake and Doom!

For a dollar and a half you'll get time-travelling action! A daring adventure testing your very limits! Pumping sword action! Intense graphics featuring unbelievable levels like ancient Greece and medieval Norway. You'll even get to see a future cyberpunk Japan!

And did I mention you get 25 weapons? That's right, 25 actually cool weapons to use in 24 big Quake/Doomesque levels of the game!

Don't wait, grab your copy today! Amazing sword and gun FPS action awaits you!

Just listen to that music.

*Vomits all over the thread and Daikatana*
Is the game that bad? I mean has anyone from here actually tried it?
The pc version was never THAT bad. The console version is where the main reputation comes from. It is a decent game, well the sale price.
Lets see if I'm doing this correctly.

Wow much hilariousness!
But I already insta-bought it at its GOG launch..

It's actually pretty good in comparison to the other games from that period, check out a short review and an in-depth guide including tips on how to make the game run and look better here.

I've tried it years back. It was decent, but I hated not being able to save anywhere. The first levels are by far the ugliest, it gets better later.

If you want a really frustrating bad game, go for Deathtrap Dungeon...

But do you get to carry them all together at the same time, in a good old FPS fashion?

Although it's wrong, the usual form of reading the title's kanji would be "daito".

No. The AI is a bit iffy (your companions can get stuck or lost leading to not completing a level), but the actual game play and level design is not to bad. As an FPS of its time, it is not bad at all, only over-hyped. If it had not had that amount of hype, it would have gone down in history as a flawed gem.

the save game thingy is fixed now. You can save as often you want (if I remember correctly....)

Yes, I thought Daikatana, meant two (dai) sword (katana), or two handed sword. Don't remember that from the game. Anyways, didn't get far myself but seemed ok.
In all honesty, I'd rather play Daikatana than Omikron: The Nomad Soul, out of this sale. I own the latter on a physical disk, bought it many years ago, and I can't quite understand why people praise it so much. It's flawed, looks ugly as hell (I don't remember ever thinking it looked good, even back in the day), it plays really bad with clunky controls all around and the overall lack of direction makes it really boring real quick. I guess people are easy to put on their nostalgia-tinted glasses and admire the game for how "groundbreaking" it was, ignoring all the flaws it has. Not saying Daikatana is a good game, just acknowledging there are worse games in this promo that people praise simply because they didn't get the flak Daikatana did.

I thought dai meant big, you learn something new every day.

No you're right, dai means emphasis, so big or great.
