To restore sanity and bring talk about videogames back, let's talk Crypt of the Necrodancer! So, first of all, the game needs to get here now that it's out of Early Access, so Community Wishlist and if you want a bit more exhaustive review, I can't really do much better than to post the excellent one by Super BunnyHop.

So, it's a rogue-like (or lite, whatever), with the only exception of turn time being limited by beats of music - so yes, it's a rhytm-based rogue-lite with extremely clever mechanics of skill-based combat revolving around predicting enemy movement and attack patterns, all of that to the beat. I wholeheartedly recommend playing the game with a dancepad if you have one home for a completely unique videogame experience, but it can be played just fine on a keyboard using arrow keys.

This is the reason why I love indies - two simple ideas which most people could never think of joining together, working beautifully as a single whole.

I had e-mailed the developer asking about a possible DRM-free release. He replied that there's no plans but they may consider it in the future. Here's hoping it gets on GOG.

Now I'm sad panda. :(

One day I'd like to try this on a dancepad. Seems like a sport worth practicing. :P
With or without dancepad I can't wait for it to be released here. That soundtrack is mind-blowing.

Let's hope they'll choose wisely and bring it here :).

I hope GOG can get it too! It has over 270 votes in the wishlist!
Oh, well :(

Honestly outside of having to upload patches to two different stores, I don't really get the hesitation on selling your game other places outside of Steam. It used to be before the digital age devs and publishers wanted their stuff in as many stores as possible now it's Origin only, Uplay only, Steam only, Battle.net only, ect. short of being the owner and operator of said digital store front it doesn't make much sense to have your stuff in only one place even if it's a large one.

That was pretty much the same response I got when I e-mailed them last year asking about the subject. =/ Hopefully this might still happen, but I'm not that optimistic.

Too bad for them then as I've long since had a no buy policy when it came to indies on Steam. The only thing I buy there is big name games and only when the price is right, and that often happens through other vendors than Valve as well. I support them as little as possible. Same as with any other DRM store front.
Damn what is this, is that for REAL???

Wow, ***NECRODANCER***??? You kidding me, i find it hard to believe such a game exists, ***necrodancer*** was a term one of my classmates invented back in 2002 for my necromancer (and my monicker much in my annoyance) in Diablo 2, which we used to play back then!

A game you say, with a necrodancer? I want it! I will get it! Even if only for the lolz and memories!

Gimme petition to sign, meow, i wanna, gimme!

Yup. You will face such bosses as King Konga and Death Metal.

It's actually one of the few games which are pretty much impossible to gauge by gameplay videos. Of course, it also doesn't have a demo. Go figure.

Yep! I wanna! Gimme that game here on gog! I buy! Steam, NO! GoG, YES!
Voted.

I forgot about this game. Heres hoping it eventually comes to GOG
At first glance this would seem like a perfect GOG candidate; a polished indie game such as GOG's seemed more focused on recently. I voted for it a long time ago and am hopeful it makes it here. It seems like the developer just isn't sure about DRM free; which continued to seem odd to me that so many companies seem "surprised" by the existence of no DRM or Steam.
