FearfulSymmetry: Yep. It doesn't happen that often, but when it does, it's really annoying, and we have small classes, so it's very noticeable. This professor has a weird streak of humor, though, so I tend to be careful in his classes anyway, because you never know what's going to happen. He's got this feud going on with my study advisor, in which they'll try to ridicule each other in front of students by photoshopping each other's faces onto statues and that sort of thing.

IIRC the confiscation of phones only happened in school not university.

Here in France, you would have so many parents complaining and threatening, and you'd probably end up in a trial for doing that... Teachers have lost every kind of trust and support from families :-( ...)
