Wow! Thanks a lot for your input, it's very good!

Actually I know both major (those that you listed) and minor (less common but original) rules for limerick. I can write a proper limerick with a good meter and even with a place establishing the rhyme in the first verse but the thing is... I can do it in Polish ;) As you can see it yourself it was much harder in English because of several reasons:
- My vocabulary is far from perfect
- I suspect that some of my rhymes are not so good because I the way I pronounce some words can be bad
- Grammar errors
- And most important of all: it's not my mother language so I have to think really hard whether some sentences with an unusual structure make any sense. In Polish I can do it without hesitation and I just know it's good.

Anyway, I had a good time writing this :) It was also my pleasure to read your comments so thanks once again!
wow reading some of these, it's really shown me how hard it is to try and get the proper beat off the written lyrics, especially if they're not strictly written to the beat on the video. so, I've taken a cue from some people and tried to add formatting to show the way the words fit into the rhyme. it's just mainly to get the point across though.

bold is a syllable that's emphasized, and italics are ones that are particularly not emphasized (quick). something in asterisks is said between the end of the measure and before the next one. you can figure it out.

two zero zero eight

and with it we'll begin our tale of something called gog

a place and a community, a vision through a fog

that's clouded up the industry for many many years

and hasn't done us much but make us shed a lot o' tears

Interplay and Codemasters, two of the first

supporting an experiment, no fear of any detriment

with roots back in Poland, yeah a decade ago

CD PROJEKT's project was a hit from the go

but back to the future, like the telltale games

gog wasn't playin, just succeeding and stayin

but ah the second year, y'know they hit a little bump

it wasn't well received, that little marketing stunt

*but let* bygons be bygons, small misunderstandings

if you're worried, keep duke and your gogbook handy

you can read it by torchlight, deep in the night

or have system shock 2 give you one hell of a fright

I get ahead of myself, so let's get back to my tale

gog dreamed of adding in a little more for sale

they were playin Win Commander at the old game thing

but still sharp enough to know to keep evolva-ing

and evolve they did, they brought in fresh new plays

so come and grab your indies and a bunch of AAA's

where else can you see assassins creed alongside?

hitman and splinter cell, to show them how to hide?

take your wings to the air as the dragon commander

or forget about the air, and play wing commander

and the most important thing is that the fog I talked about

is no where to be found, no trace or doubt

that fog, sad to say we know as DRM by name

and it's just too common having it polluting up our games

but not here on gog, nosiree

six-hundred plus games and all of it fog-free

two zero one three, system shock reemerged

and torchlight was unleashed upon an unsuspecting world

for 6 or 10 bucks you can grab yourself a game

with plenty of sales to keep your wallet free of pain

and here we are celebrating 5 on the gog train

congratulations gog, here's to 5 more and then some

oh yeah.. one more thing, I guess I forgot to mention

Happy Birthday GOG :)

also after I had it written I realized it was too long for your beat in the video. so I wasn't sure how that go and so to be sure as not to disqualify myself I made one that matches the video. it's mostly the same just trimmed a bit and changed a bit to make way for the trim.

two zero zero eight

and with it we'll begin our tale of something called gog

a place and a crew, against a drm fog

that's clouded up the industry for many many years

and hasn't done us much but make us shed a lot o' tears

Interplay and Codemasters, two of the first

supporting an experiment, no fear of any detriment

with roots back in Poland, yeah a decade ago

CD PROJEKT's project was a hit from the go

but back to the future, like the telltale games

gog wasn't playin, just succeeding and stayin

they were playin Win Commander at the old game thing

but had wisdom of the dragon commander, to keep changing

and change they did, they brought in fresh new plays

so come and grab your indies and a bunch of AAA's

and the most important thing is that the fog I talked about

is no where to be found, no trace or doubt

and here we are celebrating 5 long years

congratulations gog, here's to 5 more years and then some

oh yeah.. one more thing, I guess I forgot to mention

Happy Birthday GOG :)

ok so Happy Birthday GOG. nice contest! I don't rap often, but when I do, I do it with lots of BBCode :/ Hopefully that helped and didn't make you even more cross-eyed trying to read this. thanks again!
I channeled my inner Sugar Hill Gang and Run DMC for this one. Only old-school for old-school. I've been working on this all week (and by "all week" I mean "I wrote most of it last Saturday and just finished it before the deadline").

My name is G-O-G, pronounced with an O-G
This rap, like me, is DRM-free
Just getting started, on the first lap
I have no mouth, and I must rap
My name is Good Games, but my middle name's Old
The stories I have are the greatest told
Got games as far back as 30 years
So start the downloads and chill the beers
Like I said before, there's no DRM
You don't have to dig far to find a gem
I'm ethical and full of class
Back my games up like you back dat ass
It doesn't matter where you are
You can be right here or very far
I'm G-O-G, but you can call me GOG
Just take a look at my catalog

Adventure, strategy, RPG
Gather your friends for some D&D
Arcade, racing, first person shooter
Download Duke straight to your computer
King's Quest, Fallout, Rollercoaster
So old they'll play on a toaster
Grimrock, Torchlight, To The Moon
Modern games are okay, too
MDK, Phantasmagoria
Neverwinter, Myst and Primordia
Might & Magic, Lands of Lore,
Wing Commander, UT2K4
Free Space, Far Cry, Witcher, Nox
Cannon Fodder, Anachronox
Longest Journey, Baldur's Gate
System Shock 2, what more can I say

The games I have are extraordinary
Those games on Steam are BORE-dinary
You don't need much money to even buy
Those others be hatin', don't even try
I keep it fresh and I never stumble
Since when was Origin ever Humble
I'm the best of the best on any day
What the hell is a Desura anyway
Download a game and put it on a disc
You can back it up without any risk
Those others make sure you're always online
But if you get from GOG, it'll all be fine
That's it for me, I'm out of time
I can't come up with another rhyme
But if it's only one thing you learned from me
It's to get your games from G-O-G

I guess GOG forgot their Birthday Rap contest. No answers for the conclusion of the contest??! It's been almost 2 months since the contest has started and no winners announced yet. Strange.

I think TET has probably been gunned down for dissing Biggie Judas by some nutty fan!

Edit: technically no blue has come in and said "closed" so I presume we all still have time! O_o

UPDATE
So, what's up, GOG? Are we ever going to hear who the winners of the rap contest are?
