He is always confident and, no matter what adversity comes his way, he instinctively knows that there is a way to overcome it (or he will create one). This is true for even something believed to be impossible, such as the test for cadets attending Starfleet Academy, the Kobayashi Maru training exercise. This no-win scenario was, most unexpectedly, bested by the brash, almost impudent, cadet Jim Kirk. Chris Pine captured this larger than life persona extremely well in the movie Star Trek (2009)

Well it's time once again for yet another contest, and this one is a special one....as it's for a certain someone's upcoming birthday. :)

Now this year has had a few more 'blah moments' than usual, but the birthday personz still maintain a cheerful optimistic outlook on life none the less, and to boost morale a bit more(of themselves and others on GOG), they figured it'd be a good idea to hand out a few nice prizes to some lucky people.

Deadline

The deadline for entries for the two main draws (and door prize draw) will be September 20th, sometime between the hours of 1am and 12pm.

(there is no deadline for the party favors draws, they will continue until all the favors are handed out or until the contest closes)

Rules

1. An entrant must have joined before September 2021. All entries made by suspicious seeming accounts(i.e. accounts with little to no rep, with few/zero games and/or hidden libraries) will be subject to scrutiny before being added to the entrants list(s).

2. An entrant must complete the entry requirements listed below, and be able to be PMd(in case they win a prize). This can be done by either adding me as a PM friend, or allowing PMs from everyone for the duration of the contest.

3. An entrant can enter (for themselves or some other eligible gogger) for any or both of the two main giveaways listed below, and must state which they are entering for/opting out of & whom they are entering for(themselves/someone else). Also, like usual, every entrant/poster graciously gets added to the door prize draw by default.

***Note*** There is also a party favors draw, where I will pick from all entrants at random and then let them pick one game from a list of games i've gathered up. Every entrant is entered for this by default, but may turn it down if selected(if they don't want anything on the list of party favors/etc).

TheBigCore: My favorite episode of Star Trek: The Original Series (first one) is The Squire of Gothos. I love how obnoxious Trelane is towards Kirk and how Kirk can do nothing about it at all until Trelane's own mother takes care of the situation.

For anyone who hasn't seen that episode, it's glorious.

morolf: I think my favourite is still the original series. It just has a certain charm, because it is much more about exploration than any of the other series, and you feel space is a dangerous frontier, with something unknown ("monsters" like that salt creature or the cloud monster or the "flying pancakes" in Operation Annihilate, powerful beings like Trelane, alien probes like Nomad, lost civilizations etc.) lurking in every new star system.

morolf: Favourite powerful being: Q from TNG (one of the best parts of that series imo).

morolf: My favourite Star Trek games are undoubtedly 25th anniversary and Judgement rites. I think they nailed the atmosphere of TOS perfectly. In general I'd say point-and-click adventures are the best genre for telling a Star Trek story, much more suitable than action games (even if thouse are pretty fun, have just played the Elite forces and enjoyed them, also liked Starfleet academy).

morolf: I don't celebrate my birthdays much anymore. Most recent thing I did in that regard was buy two books as birthday gifts for my father.

morolf: Not a fan of Marilyn Mansion personally, but at least it's better than if you had posted "It's my birthday, and I'll cry if I want to" :-)
