By the time GR took to the podium to announce the winners, matterbandit's mind was submerged in a sea of Trekkie cocktails.
For matterbandit, the hall was spinning and spinning: slow enough to keep nausea away, but fast enough to keep the poor chap from standing up straight on his own two feet. Thankfully, matterbandit was in good hands tonight (or should I say, legs?). In a span of several cocktails, he'd become best pals with the clan of giant alien spiders. They were his drinking buddies tonight! And this clan of giant alien spiders made certain to keep an eye on matterbandit's drunken ass and catch his fall were he to attempt to stand up on his own.
*matterbandit points a finger to GR at the podium*
"Who's that guy?" matterbandit's tongue was embarrassingly heavy with Trekkie cocktails as he spoke to his spider friends. "He looks very familiar! Why is he holding envelopes? He's handing out gifts! Is he Santa? Is this a Christmas party? Why so many guests dressed in Star Trek cosplay at a Christmas party? How come I'm not dressed as Star Trek? Why are all the other guests looking at me funny?"
*matterbandit goes dead silent for a brief moment, his eyes wide open*
"AAARGH!! SPIDERS!!" he screams in complete terror as he attempts to run across the hall towards the nearest exit, but stumbles and falls flat on his face, quick asleep on the hall floor, not too far from where he was seated.
