Twinsen’s Little Big Adventure is a two part series of incredibly unique, story rich action-adventure titles. Released in 1994 and 1997 respectively, they became cult-classics. And while both first and second entries are now available on GOG (original versions as well as 2022’s updated ones), we are also super happy to announce that…

Twinsen's Little Big Adventure Remastered and Twinsen's Little Big Adventure Remastered 2 are coming soon to GOG! That’s right, soon enough we will be able to once again join the young Quetch on Citadel Island and relive his awesome adventures in remastered versions with new animations, updated camera, 4K resolution, HD music and updated controls!

Make sure to wishlist them now, so you won’t miss their releases or any special offers!

While I do love the originals I'll have to say that the chosen artstyle simply is not my cup of tea for these games. Because of the cell-shade artstyle characters seem to lose depth and it looks more like a 2D drawing ... at least in the screenshots. Will have to see trailers of it before making my final verdict but right now I don't think that I will purchase it. I am glad for those who like the artstyle.
As far as remasters go, that doesn't look too shabby. I actually quite like the new cartoon look for the characters. Definitely curious about how it looks like in motion.
The ever lengthening name of the series is completely ridiculous, but this does look rather nice.

(I'm referring to the fact that even the original game - Little Big Adventure - has been renamed "Twinsen's Little Big Adventure Classic - Original Edition".)

DD & Ji Ji: HD music ? Not High Quality ?
No
HQ has no real meaning, but people ususally expect CD audio quality when that is mentioned.
HD means a higher definition, meaning 24 or 32 Bit per sample instead of 16, sometimes it's also used for frequencies > 48kHz, but usually it's abouit the Bitrate.

My soundcard is usually set to 172kHz to minimize rouding errors when sources with 48 kHz are used. 192 kHz would be possible, but that causes synchronization bugs with some games during cut scenes.

Thank you for bringing up the news again, and especially with such good news. It saves me from opening a new thread for my question. :-)

I noticed that both LBA and LBA 2 are listed as free on the shop page. However, during checkout, there is a message telling me that I need to purchase another version first. Is this an error? If not, and they are not actually free, please remove the 'Free' label, as it is misleading. Thank you!

You must be thinking of the titles named "Original Edition".

Both games got a "25th anniversary" update last year with some QoL changes. Those so-called "Original Editions" are free DLC's that readd the original, untouched bits as an optional download. Therefore you need to own the base game in order to claim the respective DLC.

Thank you very much for answering my question! You are absolutely right; those were the ones. My mistake was that I just saw that they are allegedly FREE, but I didn't notice the DLC label or description underneath the screenshots. So, I guess I will have to wait until the Classics will go on sale. :)
Little Big Adventure - Twinsen's Quest Reveal Trailer
Making-of

"How did the remake of Little Big Adventure - Twinsen’s Quest come to life, 30 years after the original? The devs at [2.21] talk about the creation of the studio, their ambitions and the challenges for this brand new version of the game that brings way more than just a fresh coat of paint!"
LBA2 Remake is at Risk - Join the Fight

In short - Microids won't be publishing the LBA2 Remake, and the developer [2.21]'s current plan is to self-publish. And for this they need funding (through one-time donations, monthly subscription or private investment in the studio).
Introducing Little Big Adventure - Purple Empire

Dear Twinsider,

The time has come—we’re finally revealing the title of the LBA2 remake:
Little Big Adventure – Purple Empire

Like we did with Twinsen’s Quest, we’ve chosen a new title to clearly distinguish the remake from the original. Purple Empire sets the tone for what’s to come: a reimagined journey through Zeelich, full of mystery, absurdity, and cosmic ambition.
