Civil warfare blues.

Rogue Trooper Redux, the visually remastered cult classic shooter, is coming soon, DRM-free, to GOG.com.

One of the most celebrated cover-based shooters of the past decade just got a new coat of blue paint over its bulging muscles and is ready to enter the fray once more. In this futuristic story, you play as a genetically engineered soldier destined to tip the scales in the civil war that's tearing apart the heavily polluted Nu Earth.

Do NOT forget key rebind options and manual saving! Both of which has been console-infected out of PC games as of late!
I like RT so much I bought it twice. I picked it up in Game, it was in their bargain bin for 99p and it still holds as the best value for money game I've ever bought. Sunk many hours into it, finished it a few times and really enjoyed it.

The second time was when it became available on GOG, because I wanted it DRM free.

I'm not sure I'm going to buy it again, because that would be a bit much. Unless there's some sort of loyalty scheme going on.

Great game, dated graphics (even when it came out) and some interesting gameplay mechanics. I highly recommend it for people who haven't yet tried it.

Fairfox: Are these multi-only? As in even if they offer single-player they're totes meant for moar peeps? No-one I kno plays games (well, most) so ain't worth jack otherwise.

lolz, she says as if evah pickin' up anyhoohar.
No, don't think so. The co-op isn't even for the actual campaign but separate stuff from what I've found.

I've never played Rogue Trooper's co-op mode, so it's possible that it's amazing; but as far as I know it's very much a secondary feature compared to the single-player campaign. (At minimum I can say that Rogue Trooper has a really great single-player mode, and can be enjoyed 100% on that basis alone.)

I own it twice also . I was playing it back when Game Tap was alive here in the US before it went overseas . Kept the save files . Then I found it available on disc at a Game Stop for 5.00 ! Grabbed it & loaded it up on my pc with an iZ3D brand 3D monitor . My save files worked & I had a blast replaying this game over & over in 3D ! Now , when I saw it on GOG drm free it was a no-brainer .... get it ! No more disc loading . However , when I went to a triple monitor setup all was not good . The FOV was zoomed in way too much to play . Now I'm hoping I don't have to buy it again for a 3rd time to enjoy it in 4K goodness ... like 2K pulled with the Metro series !
What happened to the lighting in this "remastered" version?
Seriously, it looks horrible and very dull, just look and compare with original game screenshots.
I played the original game and enjoyed it a lot so I don't understand how making it look worse
would be called "Redux"...
Huge fan of the comic!
The original game was pretty fun but I remember that the music was VERY good, giving the right atmosphere to the setting.
Welcome back to Nu Earth :)
Enjoyed RT the first time around; was a good game for developing cover-based tactics that didn't punish like some other games. I liked the banter - would've liked more of it. I have a passing familiarity with the source material and appreciated the fairly in-depth background (unlocks) given to the game. Certainly that's something that you don't see much of in PC games, and not at all on consoles.
Kind of short, but environments were decent. Too bad the remaster doesn't include new material. (Good DLC is not a sin)

I would get the remaster simply not to have to mess around with trying to get it to run on W10 (like the problems I've had with mods under the original CD distro of Far Cry)

[The B]
I was a huge 2000AD fan in my younger days and loved Rogue Trooper (original, not the later one). I played the hell out of Rogue Trooper when it was released and couldn't believe just how true to the comics the game way. I was blown away and loved every minute.
Redux version? Hell yeah, bring it on and count me in for another campaign on Nu Earth.
High fives all round Rebellion.
Can I have a Nemesis the Warlock game now please or maybe a DR and Quinch mod for GTA? :)
This was awesome ... but the only sad thing was.... you could finish it ,from 3 to 4 hours ... ouch

If this redux only has visual effects and no longer levels ... or any new added content ,to make it longer ... like 8h-ish ... then well, it sucks ...

WebJunkie: You know, what's with all this 'let's remake old stuff' rubbish?

Why can't games/films just be left as they are, why the sudden need to remake them? Seems the industry has run out of ideas and creativity so find it far easier to remake old stuff! Heck, all the necessary assets/story are already available so why try to create something fresh and innovative from scratch? Seems that's far beyond a lot of film and game makers these last few years!

Just saying!

SSolomon: Game development has grown stupidly expensive. Updating a old game a little for a re-release is much cheaper than creating something new from scratch. Its simply a profit deal situation. The industry isn't creatively bankrupt, just having to deal with the harsh realities associated with what the game development industry has become.
That's the sad reality, it's all about a quick cash grab nowadays! If Rogue Trooper II was being made then I would be more than willing to buy it, just as long as Major Magnum is included as one of Rogues weapons! But of course, that won't happen while the 'men in suits' just want easy money!

We'll probably end up with some trash like Judge Dredd v's Rogue Trooper if they ever make a new one!
