by the gods.

love this games.
I'm not sure the setting (political intrigues in late Republican Rome, apparently with appearances of historical figures like Cato and Cicero) really is a good idea for Expeditions, imo they should have done something set during the Empire, maybe an expedition into ancient Germania.
I hope it won't completely butcher the historical source material.
E: Vikings was fantastic, so color me highly interested.
Looking forward to this!

Breja: I only played the first game, Conquistador, and enjoyed it a lot. Was not heavy on management at all. It was most like.. I don't know, King's Bounty in a historical setting? Something like that. As for accuracy, it was somewhere in the middle-ground I'd say. You know, not nearly as bollocks nonsensical like Assassin's Creed, but not exactly a reliable tool for learning history either.

I love the series and would say both games are great, though the different styles leave each player with their preference.
Thanks for the info y'all. I think maybe Vikings might be me more my alley. Both in historical interest and gameplay.
I will say, after watching some gameplay, they are incredibly text heavy. At least Conquistadors looked to be. I'll check some Vikings gameplay.

i_ni: Storage & RAM trends, per minimum sysreq:
https://www.gog.com/game/expeditions_conquistador (2013) 1.9 GB 4GB
https://www.gog.com/game/expeditions_viking (2017) 12 GB 4GB
https://www.gog.com/game/expeditions_rome (2021) 30 GB 6GB
30GB for one game is a bit much as is the 6gb sys req...
Let's see...

Assuming that they're sticking with the "choose your own path to glory" approach I'd argue that late Republic is the best era for it. Rome was still dynamic and expanding in those days; the empire rode on inertia for about a hundred years but it was already turning inward as soon as Julius Caesar got shanked.

That's not really true, there was still vast expansion under Augustus (Spain was fully subjugated under him, also much of the Balkans - Illyricum - conquered; also many of the regions in the Near East which had been ruled by client kings taken under direct imperial administration). And later on the conquests of Britain and Dacia.
Anyway, we'll have to say what they do with the setting in the game. I just hope they'll try to stay at least somewhat accurate.
