The penitent man shall pass. Away.

Dark Devotion is coming soon DRM-free.

The sanctity of this place has been fouled... Generations of devout Templars who've committed atrocious acts in the name of their faith, find their end inside this fallen temple. Seek salvation and stumble upon terrible truths as you destroy ancient fiends, wield epic weapons, fight off curses, and venture ever deeper into this accursed place.
Looks cool. Just some I'd wish this would be a first person 3D game... not many good FP melee games with gothic atmosphere.
YEEEEEEEEES!! Thank you GOG! Can't wait for this game.

doronnorod: Female protagonist...about a lore and culture that only had men ?? NO THANKS

I have studied the history of Templars in depth. During those ages, an average sword weighed 20-25 pounds. How can a female wield it?

A better game than this is salt and sanctuary.
While I agree that genders are not symmetrical, I think you missed two important details here:

- asymmetrical doesn't mean its two disjoint sets. Some exceptionally strong women are stronger than your average man
- Its fiction (fantasy fiction at that). If they want gender symmetry (ex: the strongest person in the world potentially being a woman), why not? They can do whatever the heck they want. That's the beauty of fiction. It doesn't have to be real.

Anyways, looks like an interesting title. Will buy when there is a Linux version.

I figure one reasonable reply might nudge an unreasonable soul toward a more reasonable direction (if not this time, maybe the 20th time a similar reply is directed to him).

Beyond that, if he insists on uttering the same dogmatic rhetoric, he's on his own. I tend to lose interest quickly these days.

Uhm, we're discussing realism...in a game with demons and monsters?
Okay...?
Looks slightly in the style of Slain: Back from Hell. Probably using Unity, so why no Linux version?
That falling animation/stance looks awkward as hell.

An admirable stance, but he's been posting crap like this for a long time.
I'll keep my sights on this, but it seems self-proclaimed metroidvanias these days are sub-par.
Artdesign looks pretty nice but definitely waiting for test/reviews to see how controls perform

Huh. What swords were that, pray tell? Even huge two-handed swords weigh far, far less than that.
25 pounds? No matter guy or gal, you're not wielding that thing.

So much this.

For somebody who "studied" the period doronnorod sure did not pay attention to the weights involved..

A 8lb greatsword was already very heavy. Most would fall into the 5-6lb weight range. Rather similar to that of poleaxes. Add another pound for halberds as a general guide.

For that matter, I suggest the poster goes to some hardware store and takes a few swings with a modern sledgehammer and see how that feels.

20-25lb weight for any non-animuu sword (and those aren't exactly realistically functional, to put it mildly) is beyond an idiotic of a claim.

That out of the way, looks like an interesting game, even if Metroidvania isn't exactly my cup of tea. Will keep an eye on the reviews, though, really like the graphical presentation. Even if in general I wish people stopped pretending that "pixel-graphics" are some avant-garde achievement, damnit. I've played enough pixellated games in the past already :)

Though to be fair, accurate accounts of medieval warfare portray it as a rather chaotic affair (as opposed to the artistic foreseeable dodge & parry game often portrayed in movies) and until the event of firearms, wearing some form of metal armor was the name of the game, at least for an elite professional soldier (aka, nobility or mercenaries).

For combatants getting into the thick of things (as opposed to the archers shooting from afar), that was anywhere between 20lbs (chain mail) to 55lbs (plate armor), although in the later case, the combatant was usually mounted.
