Hello madness, my old friend.

Cultist Simulator is coming soon, DRM-free to GOG.com.
You got the fever again. It's been two days since you last ate but your research is more important. Gotta crack that ancient book, whose arcane language promises a glimpse at cosmic mysteries not intended for mortal minds. Just need to play your cards right: visit the wrong places, gain the proper insight, combine your madness with that of loyal followers, who would gladly sacrifice or be sacrificed in the name of terrible beings lurking at the edge of whispers. Don't worry about failing the first time. Worry about letting the moths escape.
Into the forum you go...
Great idea but I'm not jazzed about it being a card game. That kind of ruins it for me.
I'm interested to see more gameplay and reviews. The concept looks good, but like tinyE says, the card game mechanic is a bit strange.
I backed it. Fallen London, Sunless Sea... I love this guy's stuff.
Ah cool, seen that one on itch.io but haven't let myself be tempted (please gog, get Celeste here!).

Will look into it. I need to see more of it, I wasn't a fan of Fallen London and Sunless Sea.

Cultist Simulator? Knowing Alexis Kennedy games and approach to gameplay it should be renamed to Grindist Simulator.

Thanks god GoG doesn't allow microtransactions (yet).

Crikey, give them a second, lootboxes have only been here for a couple of months ;op
if the ancient text contains mysteries not intended for the mortal mind, who were the mysteries intended for? and who wrote them down in a book, and why? what beings use books to store and gain knowledge aside from humans? seems silly to put such stuff in a book if it wasn't intended for mortals

Just because the knowledge wasn't meant for mortals doesn't mean some mortal didn't get hold of it somehow and write it down. Quite possibly what was written down was completely garbled, hence the great risk of relying on such books.
What an oddly appropriate date to tease a game called Cultist Simulator, considering today is Shoko Asahara's birthday.

お誕生日おめでとうございます!

well then where did the guy who acquired the mysteries not meant for mortals get it from? what made him think it was a good idea to put the mysteries in a book?

Ever since Xenosaga and Culdcept I've been looking for a good non-console computer card game. I haven't found any on gog yet. Is this going to be the one? Given that the video is annoying to watch, and they pissed me off in the second paragraph of the description (hint: if it's not like rogue, it's not a roguelike), I'm not sure I even want to know. In any case, a card game with timeouts does not appeal to me at all. Got tired of Baten Kaitos pretty quickly, too, and that had pretty 3d graphics to keep me entertained during the card battles.

What's this thing about Alexis Kennedy and microtransactions? Google told me nothing.
