Hipster Alex vs the World.

YIIK: A Postmodern RPG is coming soon DRM-free.

It ain't Alex that's paranoid. It's the world, mate - it's gone totally barking MAD! Armed with an unwavering obsession to prove his outlandish conspiracy theories true, he gathers an army of weir--- enlightened warriors and together they'll run the gamut of addictive JRPG activities: mini games, electro music, and turn-based fighting against foul monsters who blatantly disobey the laws of physics and fashion.

Exactly the reason why I won't be getting this game.



To the others: YIIK is read "Year two k" by the way. That's how they called the jump from 1999 to 2000, mostly in context of the world ending because there were still many old computer who wouldn't handle that date.

Judging by the screenshots, and only the screenshots, it looks like a spiritual successor to Mother/Earthbound. I smell a political twist, too.

I don't know Mother/Earhbound tbh, and I don't mind political. Even if I don't agree with it ;-) Otherwise many games would be off-limits, because don't most games embrace the "survival of the fittest/most reckless/most clever" principle? Something I can't really embrace in real life - I tend more to "live and let live" and "there's something of value in most things". I tend to fight with teeth and claws those who do deny me this right to live and feel valuable though.

I feel like that's precisely what this game is about.

As for Mother/Earthbound, it's Nintendo's RPG series prior to pokemon, notorious for the final boss fights being a reference to the writer's exposure to a porn flick as a child ruining his innocence. You basically play as children who run across potentially traumatizing things, but deal with them from an innocent kid lens. It's basically a video game adaptation of Steven King's IT, except the clown is replaced and it's not a direct parallel. You'll very quickly notice that Undertale (if you played it) was based on it (actually started out as a romhack). I recommend looking into the series if you have a friend who has the cartridges. ;)

EDIT: Maybe i shouldn't've said political. Now the usual crowd has gotten afraid of it.

Do I really need a "friend with the cartrigdes" here, or could I just play Undertale (which has been recommended to me a lot)?

Spoiler alert, when the announcer says "And now a new group, real high performers".. let's just say it will not be the best act. It's kind of when somebody says "I will not rob you or anything", he'll likely rob you.
