Was going to get this on Steam if it was not coming here....Great that it's going to make it to GOG!

It reminds me a little of Lichdom: Battlemage. You could play with magic spells there as well and the game was an FPS, but not a retro one. It's still available on GOG is someone is interested: https://www.gog.com/game/lichdom_battlemage. Maybe not a masterpiece, but I spent a few hours with the game and it was definitely entertaining. Anyway, wishlisted and I'll probably buy it on some sale in the future. :)

Yeah I got this game as well, it's fun but the inventory issue with the cards can be a pain though... Most importantly it doesn't feature perma-death, while I'm glad GoG got another simultaneous release to steam (more games being sold here the better) I don't do rogues or games with the permadeath mechanic...

EDIT: On second thought, this doesn't sound too bad as you can still progress, though your hard-won abilities are too easily lost as these types of mechanics are meant for you to easily die... wishlisted for now!

GROW YOUR POWERS - rescue villagers to open shops for permanent upgrades to prolong your runs and maximize your potential
EDIT2: More importantly, this is a microsoft game, so maybe we'll see some more releases from them!

Lichdom: Battlemage, I was stuck somewhere and could never understand how to proceed. It was good-looking.
I hope this game can do what Lichdom: Battlemage couldn't. Because Lichdom: Battlemage failed: there was a great idea (real unmitigated badass mage: no manabars, no cooldowns), and good visual implementation, but in the end the game was extremely boring (though not from start): you go, you get locked in an arena and hordes of monsters spawns. When you've beaten them all, the arena in unlocks and you can... walk to the next arena, where it's all over again. And so - the whole game. And if at first it's quite interesting, but by about the second location this pattern becomes unbearably boring.

In addition, the game was just awful implemented spell crafting system. So bad that the developers eventually added the option to switch to a simplified crafting mode (which still didn't rescue the game, because it was also poorly designed, and also could not do everything that the original mode).
In general, many years waiting for a game where this same cool idea will be implemented well. Maybe it was this time?

P.S. In any case, if you are interested in the idea of playing FPS-mage spellcaster with not artificially limited ability to use spells, then Lichdom: Battlemage is worth at least try. After all, there is very little choice in this sub-genre.
Look like TomSka finally made a game about the HOLE :p
Long as there's no surprise online only stuff, it's all good.
Could be a lot of fun. Wishlisted.
I was wondering when Bowser's Inside Story was going to get a followup.
