BATTLETECH - Heavy Metal is coming soon.

Eight new ‘Mechs will be added to the world of BATTLETECH, including seven classic designs from the original board game along with a never-before-seen ‘Mech created exclusively for this expansion. New methods of destruction await as eight devastating weapons systems are now available to wreak havoc like never before. Heavy Metal takes ‘Mech action to the next level with a brand new Flashpoint Mini-Campaign.
Interesting, i have been waiting for Warhammer and Marauder that comes with the patch and seeing the expansion includes Annihilator, Bull Shark a newly created mech, Archer, Rifleman, Phoenix Hawk, Vulcan, Assassin and Flea on top of that if the info is correct this should add in nicely.

Definately better than the last two.

Why is the Mercenary Collection 3.51 USD more expensive than the Deluxe edition and season pass combined?
sweet I was wondering why most of the original mechs were missing, I thought it might be a copyright thing, would be good to have stingers and wasps for early game, and Id love to see the Crusader at some stage, but those leg SRMs might be a hassle to program :)

It absolutely was a copyright thing...most of the mechs in question are known as Unseen because they were casualties of a protracted legal dispute between the various Battletech license holders and an anime import company called Harmony Gold that dates back to the mid 1990s. A couple of years ago the Mechwarrior Online developer, Piranha Games, chose to fight HG's latest round of infringement allegations in court rather than roll over yet again and secured a reasonably strong judgement in their favor--and that of other associated IP holders like Catalyst and Harebrained. So the Unseen are back in a big way, which is good for a lot of reasons; not least of which is that they constitute most of the Inner Sphere's good heavy brawlers.
Gonna wait till this whole game is done with all the expansions and pick it up. How is it so far? is it getting better with all these add-ons?
On one hand I'll always have a soft spot for the Phoenix Hawk because Decision at Thunder Rift was my first exposure to Battletech, and a Phoenix Hawk is the first Mech to appear in the book even if it doesn't last long. On the other hand I'm leery of new weapons being created, and honestly see little need for a PC game only Mech model or weapons.

I was hoping this DLC would include the Wolfhound because for some reason the area of the Periphery the game takes place in gets lots of newly commissioned Mech models but no such luck. The Hatchetman was from 3023, the Raven 3024, and the Cataphract in 3025 the same year that the game begins. I still wonder why so many brand new models can be found in the Periphery so soon after introduction.
Instead of making a complete new mech, they should have invested time and work into making the Crusader, just my opinion. And also the Wasp and Stinger.
Besides that, it´s a great DLC.

EDIT: Btw, am I the only one who don´t like the new designs for the Marauder and the Warhammer? The original Marauder was like a walking Egg with long arms and disc shaped feet. Now it´s kind of an airplane with tucked on legs.
The original Warhammer had oversized PPCs on long arms. It looked like an ancient design. Now it looks like a modern military prototype.

Doesn't matter. The old designs get you sued. The new ones don't (as much).

I'm pretty happy with it, and I bought it at launch.
It's turn-based, so you won't get the high sensory input of MWO. Or to put it another way, you get to watch the consequences of poor decision making play out like root canal with no novocaine :D You know, if you're in to that... [chuckle]
Jokes aside, it's a faithful reproduction of the boardgame where terrain matters as much as a Mech's loadout and where over-specializing will get you wrecked in short order.

Huh. I thought Harmony Gold was finally given its STFU from the US Federal Court system. That was supposed to bring back all the old favorite... the Marauder, Archer, Warhammer, etc. ... classic looks.

I care more about the stats then the looks so I'm fine either way. Besides I think I read somewhere that FASA sued Harmony Gold, or Playmates, whom Harmony Gold had a deal with, first so what Harmony Gold did was a counter punch. If so FASA brought the whole mess down on themselves. And since Unseen models are allowed in games again now maybe we can get some of the early Battletech and Mechwarrior games on GOG in the future.

I think, they could do that, but they won´t, because it´s less work to just use the models from Mechwarrior Online.

I was wondering about this same subject. I don't know anything at all about the legal issues, all I can do is humbly ask you: how do you think recent developments affect the likelihood of seeing the old Mechwarrior games released on GOG?

Doing a cursory Google search, it appears that the Sarna.net article stating that HG's latest lawsuit was dismissed with prejudice is the most recent legal activity in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals [the US Federal level, one step down from the Supreme Court; the 9th Circuit is the US West Coast regional US Circuit Court].
However, the article states that HG's case was pretty weak and they may go looking for stronger grounds to sue.
