I'm not sure if these fully fit your needs, but:

Theme Park
Stronghold
Rollercoaster Tycoon Deluxe
Theme Hospital

I recommend you try the SimCity series if you haven't yet, they're the games all the others listed in the thread are based on.
Haven't played Settlers, but Anno Venice is great game.

Matruchus: You could always try Cultures. Its a mix of Settlers and Sims.

InsaneGoblins: Which one should I play? 1, 2 or Northland?
Either one would be good. Basically the story continues from each of the previous game but is still standalone.

Maxvorstadt: Well, if you like survival, then Stranded or Stranded 2 may be your cup of tea. Stranded 3 is in developement right now, maybe it`ll be done this year.
Those are adventure games, no management there

amok: The Spatials?

Tried, really didn't like the RPG part. Too simple and bland. Especially with the "waiting" part, that feels like it should be in a Facebook game

None, except Theme Hospital fit the genre, but thanks for the suggestion

Anno is in the "no" list :)

If you had to pick just one?

Sorry, only game known to me in lists is Anno.
Don't say nothin tinyE:-)

Just go with the first one. As said the only difference between the games is a different story. Everything else is more or less the same.

The other game you could try is Rimworld but its still early access only on dev site.

What about Space Colony HD?
It's kinda like Stronghold (from the same devs) but smaller and crossed with the sims a little.
You build your colony to the specifications of your current goals and control individual members of the colony while trying to balance their needs and relationships between them.

Rimworld is one of my favourites, and on the list :)

Been playing and it seems fun :)

But I was looking for something a bit more survival based, with random events
