Today, three classic Metal Gear titles make a grand comeback on modern computers along with five other 8-bit classics!

The first title in the series is the all-time classic Metal Gear from 1987. Widely considered one of the first stealth games in history, Metal Gear is a stealth classic and is an absolute must-play if you want to see the origins of the cult series. The second title in the series is a KONAMI hit from 1998 - Metal Gear Solid. This title continued to redefine the stealth genre with players taking the role of Solid Snake, on a mission to infiltrate a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat called FOXHOUND, a renegade special forces unit.

After restoring classics like Blade Runner and Diablo, we bring you Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance in a version that is fully playable on modern computers. As an expanded version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance will find players can once again join Solid Snake and Raiden on their mission to stop the terrorist organization “Sons of Liberty” from plunging the world into nuclear chaos!

Finally, we’ve prepared a real treat for retro gamers. 5 days after its release, MGS is already the 737th best-selling game on GOG (page 16).
This is a reminder of Diablo sales. This may encourage Konami or other studios to bring their games here.

Since Castlevania and Contra are now on GOG, Konami needs to get Gradius and Parodius here too.

That would be the Big Three Konami games from the 1980s on GOG.
GoG could make some ports like they did with Metal Gear 1987.
There are tons of Konami games that deserve a PC version.
Wouldn't you buy a proper PC port of Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the night? That would be a dream come true

I would also like to see here the "Three 50th Anniversary Retro Classics Collections" that Konami sells on Steam.

Castlevania Anniversary Collection.
Contra Anniversary Collection.
Arcade Classics Anniversary Collection.

I would buy them in a heartbeat!

But this port we've got here is not made by GOG. Both Metal Gear and Contra/Castlevania compilations were released on PC by Konami years ago(Contra/Castlevania compilation in 2002, first Metal Gear probably in 2006), so both are re-releases (in digital form).

Ah, ok then, I was 100% certain about Contra/Castlevania collection, perhaps MG is indeed first time for Windows officially, not counting the old MS-DOS port( I've missed that MSX logo at the beginning when MG is loading.

Rimland23: Damn... You know, up until now I had absolutely no idea that VM is actually a Japanese anime :D Always thought it was a German cartoon and never bothered to check... I stand corrected :))
Haha, now that you both mention Maya the Bee...

I cannot forget Heidi, The Wonderful Adventures of Nils (Nils Holgersson), Voltron, Pinocchio: The Series, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Speed Racer, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, Robin Hood,
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and other anime cartoon series from that era.

All these were made by japanes animation studios like Tatsunoko Productions, Zuiyo Enterprise, Nippon Animation, ABC Osaka and others.

Many of these childen TV-series were shows in Germany by ARD/ZDF and later os Sat 1 or Tele 5 and also in Austria by ORF. Some of these were also show in the Eastern European countries, synchronized. Poland had the most of these.

We in the former Yugoslavia didn't had much, because most synchronization were done in Serbia and/or Croatia, however some shows still got to the slovenian TV :)

So I did had the oportunity, to watch some episodes Maya the Bee in slovenian language, also some parts of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz had been synchronized.

Here is the first episode in original Japanese with english subs:

Nice memories :)
