I asked support this a while back, but never got a response. Figured I should ask here.

I started a youtube video game review channel. At first I thought about posting it here as quite a few of the games are from gog, but I feel like that would violate the no spamming/advertising rules.

Since they are user reviews, just in another medium, I thought that perhaps posting them as my user review on the game's page would be suitable. Will I be able to do this, or is there any rule against it?

I haven't tried it yet, but if there is a minimum word amount then I could post an excerpt of the script, and then end it (or start it) with "see more as this youtube link".

Thanks in advance.

I think it's okay, though of course it won't appear as a link, it'll appear as text that the user will have to copy-paste into the browser.

I don't know about rules, but I would definitely find it irritating to run into such links in place of actual reviews on the page where it's supposed to have reviews.

Although you do have a point, that link would be of a review, just in video as opposed to written form. Perhaps a compromise would be to include a link at the top for people to watch, and the entire review below for people who would rather read it?
^I suppose that'll be fine, though for my part I'll just read the written review
Just FYI, regardless of whether it's allowed or not, I wouldn't be surprised if most users on here are like me where a review containing a link to a YT review gets ignored immediately. In the age of horrible YouTubing, I immediately discount the opinion of anyone who started a YT channel for game reviews.

Doesn't mean you are like that, just means that there is that stereotype of the person who plays and 'enjoys' / 'hates' a game just to make a YT video about it in order to become a YouTuber who can play games for a living.

yeah you can.

don't bother with everyone's freaking opinion about it too.
I'm unsure if I fall into that stereotype or not. I had a career, but my mental health got in the way to the point that I even spent time in the psych ward. My psychiatrist is going to place me on disability for the next year or two. I'll go under therapy and then return to the work force. I still need to keep myself busy, so I chose video game reviews. If it becomes a career, awesome. If not, it gave me something to do for a year or two.

However, I should mention that this is not the average case. As a teenager I was a paid video game critic for a website that's now dead (game-era), and that was when I was a teen. As I grew older I spent time doing critiques of avant-garde cinema and music, which is a lot more difficult than video games. It taught me to give a much more personal approach to video game reviews.

My reviews include Halo and Swat 4. I had some people watch that and Gmanlives (one of the most famous YouTube critics) to compare, and they said that although his videos are a lot more polished, experienced, and that he's better at talking, mine was better when you consider the reviews themselves. I believe that's the case too. I'm someone that's RELENTLESSLY negative about myself, so I'm not positive about myself unless I'm sure that's the case.

It seems like the opinions here are not positive when it comes to placing YouTube links as user reviews, so I'll refrain from doing so. Anyways thanks for the responses guys!
