Back in the mid 90's I believe (I could be wrong and it's early 2000's) I played a PC game that was roman themed. The one thing that sticks out for me that I can remember is that by the end of the game you are trying to be elected as the next Caesar(?). I remember running all over the place talking to people trying to gain their support, there was even a person standing in the middle of town (town crier I think) that you could bribe to build you up. You would have to return every so often to check on him as the other people trying to be elected were bribing him too.

I know at some point in the game you were in charge of a military unit as well and did fight some battles.

Not much to go on, but I've been trying to remember this game for a long while.

Thanks for any help!

Pax Romana?

If not, Mobygames also has a list with many Roman-themed games:
