I'd think there's far more important things to worry about than pricing for games...

Aren't there more important things to do than pointing that out in this topic?

In this topic?

Nope...
Yes, the pricing has now gone through the roof with our exchange rate. Just cancelled my purchase after I saw the price in rand... Also why this old thread is being revived :) This gives steam a big advantage. Hope they will look at this at some stage again.

I have a lot of sympathy for the OP, If regional pricing was done for specific regions to help those in a less fortunate position I personally wouldn't have a problem with it.
I imagine from GOGs point of view the problem starts when GOG allow it in specific regions and then it gets abused by those in other parts of the world. I think the solution is regional pricing for all or none at all which is the policy GOG had for years but it simply wasn't financially viable for them to continue to do it which is why they decided to end it. I think its sometimes easy to forget that there isn't a lot of money in the back catalog stuff for GOG and for years they did take the hit for the regional pricing but their profits fell which you can google for the finer details.
If GOG was as big as Steam then I'd imagine regional pricing would be back but the unfortunate truth is, they aren't.

Like I said, I do feel for the OP but my gut feeling is that it simply comes down to the numbers.
There already is support for regional pricing for South African users.

According to MaGoG, the following games are cheaper in South Africa

Armikrog

This ends the list of games cheaper in South Africa.

I sympathise with your predicament. For the pricing to make any sense, South Africa must be markedly more prosperous than third world countries such as Australia.

The standard replies of any GOG staff about regional pricing is "It's up to the publishers whether or not to implement regional pricing."

That is all.
