I'm with Breja on this one. The comedy around it was built on some of the inside jokes between the relationship of the sci-fi show's actors and its fan base, based mainly on Star Trek.

Not sure how they can prolong this with a series.
The question is are they going to be actors pretending their spacemen, or just spacemen. Either one works for me, the latest star trek offerings have been a little disappointing.
Amazon Studios? Does that mean it will be shown on Amazon Prime only?

Sabin_Stargem: I look forward to the Galaxy Quest and Red Dwarf crossover special that will come in a decade. Maybe with a certain Dent hitching a ride.
I once read a script for a Red Dwarf/Star Trek: The Next Generation crossover episode called Red Trek. That was hilarious.

Edit:
Waddya know, I still have it. Gotta read that again.

I dunno. Part of me would love to see a space-opera show. But i'm not sure that this would work. I loved the movie, but i can't see it as a TV series.

And this remined me of the sad story of the Zombieland TV series pilot. Which was almost as funny as the movie and ended up as not being made into a series. Because, you know, people want more Walking Dead zombie soap opera, rather than a funny take on the subject.

I'd rather have a proper Star Trek series. Not likely to happen any time soon, because the rights are so spread between various companies...Plus, the costs would be too high for most networks. Unless someone gathers all the rights in one place and puts them to good use, no chance to see a proper Star Trek. :(
Bad feeling about this. Not sure the movie can be stretched much (its arc is kinda closed). And, while a cheesy star trek parody in an amusing idea, I think it works better as a film-in-the-film (or in-series, stargate had a fun episode based on that) than as a standalone. Even Garth Merenghi went out of steam within its 6-eps run, and Objectif Nul was a bit of inequal quality.
