A long-awaited new part of the sniping game series is finally arriving on GOG.COM DRM-free today, at 6 PM UTC.

Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts takes you to the frozen wilderness of the Siberia, where you have only two choices – adjust to the harsh environment and accomplish your mission or perish without a trace.

Thanks to the new contract-based system the gamer can combine sniping skills and strategic thinking in pursuit of his next targets. But in the end, it’s all about the reflex and patience of a sniper, and of course one must remember – even in this business the competition doesn’t sleep…

The release of the Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts is a great occasion to remind yourself about the previous parts of the series. Buy the game in pre-order or upon its release on GOG.COM and you will receive a Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 for free, added to your library. That’s not all, apart from a free game all Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts purchases will include an exclusive weapon skin and a 10% discount. The promo lasts for a week, until 29th November 2019 at 6 PM UTC.

From now on you can also buy other instalments of the Sniper Ghost Warrior series on GOG.COM DRM-free. They come with special discounts that last until 3rd December 2019, 2 PM. Notice that these are specially prepared editions of the games - they include DLCs but have no multiplayer option.

Mr.Mumbles: Judging from the store pages, they may be missing because multiplayer seems to have been cut for the GOG version.
avatar
emter_pl: For this release, we prepared special DRM-free editions of the games together with the publisher.

Sniper 1 and 3 come without multiplayer but are available at a lower base price. Sniper 1 also comes with all single-player DLC content included for free. Sniper 2 has the same base price as on other platforms and no multiplayer but comes with pretty expensive single-player DLCs included for free.
So it was likely due to Chucklefish not wanting to play ball that the Wargroove-release was scrapped altogether?
If you can cut the multiplayer portion from the Sniper Ghost Warrior games it surely should be possible in Wargroove's case too?

Random_Coffee: I sold my good graphics card a while ago.. can I run Ghost Warrior 3? It recommends a HD 7850 2GB, but I have the 1GB version of that card. CPU is a Ryzen 1600.
I've heard in a YT video (Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 (HD 7850/R7 265/R7 370 | Phenom II X4) [Medium]) that Ghost Warrior 3 requires lots of video ram and it was stuttering/pausing a lot. Maybe it's better now?

GOG: why does https://www.gog.com/game/sniper_ghost_warrior_2 say "©2013 Valve Corporation. Steamworks and the Steamworks logo are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of Valve Corporation in the U.S. and/or other countries." and https://www.gog.com/game/sniper_ghost_warrior_3_gold_edition says "©2016 Valve Corporation. Steamworks and the Steamworks logo are trademarks and/or registered trademarks of Valve Corporation in the U.S. and/or other countries. " ? Do I need Steam for these titles?

Maybe because the GOG webmaster just copy-pasted a text given by the publisher without actually read it.
The same happen with the system requirements in the page of SGW:Contracts.

Themken: So 3 new games
And i don't see any reviews from verified owners on the game pages .

Will see if I have the energy to test that first game tonight, if I can get it to run.

Random_Coffee:
You can get a new GPU for less than NOK2500 easily (checked a few Norwegian shops) that is more than twice as fast with at least 4GB of VRAM.

jepsen1977: Just in case anyone needs a good review of SGW 3 and Contracts I highly recommend ACG on Youtube:

SGW3

and contracts:

While I think ACG makes some good content, I wouldn't particularly suggest his reviews on the SGW games.
I've played it a little bit, and the few I've seen of it seems quite good.
However, controls are strangely buggy. Mouse cursor is rarely seen in menus but it has an annoying tendence to appear in the middle of gameplay. Some other controls (crouching/standing up) show strange behaviours as well.
This bugs aren't really gamebreaking, but they need to be quickly fixed.

Yup. I bought a RX 470 (well over twice as fast) in 2016 for 2100 NOK. I sold it to my sister about half a year ago with the intention to upgrade to a RX 5700 later, but my interest in PC gaming has been pretty low for a while, so I held off.

From now until Monday 2nd December is a good idea to keep your eyes open for deals. Your GPU is enough for a lot of old games. I doubt you will be able to get an RX 5700 for Kr2500 though but maybe Kr3500 for the non-XT model.
high rated
Only one problem:

Down there under anti-cheat.

Have you seen the EULA for EAC?

I'd rather deal with Denuvo than have some company scan my PC and send chunks of unidentified data they harvest from me back to a remote server without so much as allowing the user to see what they "agreed" to have stolen from them by installing a game.

Really wish people would start doing modular multiplayer, so people who are willing to put up with the epic creepiness of anti-cheat could have their safe space while the rest of us could avoid creepy corporations rummaging through our system at will with zwero protections in place.

Yeah, I'd probably go for a 5700 if I found one (non-reference design) for under 4000. The question is though.. of all games, is this one worth upgrading the hardware for? :P

That's a really good move imo, unless of course missing multiplayer becomes the norm if GOG doesn't want that.(Personally I don't care about multiplayer basically at all.)

I think there is a thin invisible line between having multiplayer for longevity and replayability sake but that is subjective of course, and having a full fledged singleplayer game not bogged down by some silly online requirement or DRM just because it has multiplayer enabled. Good old TCP/IP and LAN is just fine but very rare in todays world. Cheers
Dear lord, this is buggy. I'm about to try to restart the second map from scratch in hopes it'll get my tracker working again. Despite being the same engine and mostly re-used code, Contracts seems to have more and worse bugs than GW3.

Unless I'm mistaken, those are the weapons received as preorder bonuses on other platforms.

Both show as not owned for me despite preordering.

So: Why don't GOG preorders include them? Is that a mistake? Please fix it if so.
