A game that has a huge cult following around the world finally gets some new adjustments. As the creator of Stardew Valley sums up – 1.4 update purpose is not just to add new content, but to make the game even more enjoyable.

For example, some tools will now prove to be more efficient. Moreover, every spouse of the main character will get an additional after-marriage quest. Gamers will also receive a convenient screenshot button to make a photo of their farm, which they can later share with friends. To celebrate its 1.4 update release, Stardew Valley will be available on GOG.COM with a 10% discount until 3rd December 2019, 6 PM UTC.

Not only Stardew Valley fans will be satisfied with improvements and additional features today. A free DLC for the Project Hospital game, called Doctor Mode, is out now on GOG.COM. Also, you can buy Tangledeep – Dawn of Dragons DLC, with a 10% discount until 3rd December 2019, 5 PM UTC.

The Linux seems to be missing, Windows and Mac claim to be 1.4.

Krimzon14:
If you are not using Galaxy and ever missed a single update inbetween you will have do download the whole game again... Yes, this could have been done better.

Someone who owns the game should be able to tell you more details.

Krimzon14: When I try to update to 1.4 I keep getting a message that says "This patch does not support your version of the game". It also says to "Please download a new installer". Do I have do completely re-install the game? Will doing that lose all my progress? How do I update my game to the new patch? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Re-downloading the game should not affect your save files.
If you want to be super sure make a backup of your save's.

Really hope the update will be available for us Linux users soon too. I'm reading through the changelog, and holy mother there is a lot of great stuff in there! Both new *content* and loads of quality of life changes. Can't wait to try it out 1 =)
Just a heads up. Don't send emojis without text. The game will crash. Hotfix available soon. :)

If you want to send an emoji, add text too

Installing the game again has worked and my save file is unaffected, just as you said! Thank you very much!

depreD: Seems like the standalone installer for Linux has not been updated yet. (still on 1.3.36)
+1 dude. Linux gamers unite!
Indeed. Penguins need some love too :(

TheGreatDustpan: Does Stardew Valley have achievement support through Galaxy?
Unless it has been added in the latest update - no.
Really would like this update for the linux version :(

Wonder why the Linux installer has not updated yet. I'm impatient.

Alright, for everyone on Linux:
with lots of black magic you can get it to run.

Noticing that the actual launcher has the same checksum across versions it is possible to just use the Mac version with the Launcher for Linux.

Quick guide (basic terminal skills and common sense required):
Download the Mac release.
Extract the pkg file with 7z (7z x $FILENAME).
cd into the extracted folder called "package.pkg"
rename Scripts to Scripts.gz
extract it with gzip (gzip -d Scripts.gz)
use 7z to extract the now decompressed Script file (7z x Scripts)
there is now a folder called payload containing what we need for the following steps

Now we only need to do some copying and then we are done; here you need an existing 1.3.36 Linux version:
Delete the Content folder of your Linux/1.3.36 version and move/copy the one from the payload folder (payload/Contents/Resources/Content) into it's place.
Copy everything from payload/Contents/MacOS into the game folder.
Rename lib64 to x64
DONE!

Have fun playing.

(Note: please remember, this is just a quick workaround. Make a backup of your saves! The official update will have a newer version of SDL and probably not reference GOG Galaxy stuff so use the official release as soon as it is available.)

This is why I love indie developers, they just care and that's amazing!
