Broforce will finally leave Early Access and officially release on 15.10.2015.

For the moment the game is Steam only but since the publisher is Devolver Digital who have quite a few games here do you think it will come here at release or maybe a bit later?

Of course, comments by blues who might or might not know something they can or can not share are particularly welcome. ;-)

The Broforce developers did mention that they were approached by GOG and would probably release it, but were a bit reluctant regarding the missing features of the GOG build. Of course, now that GOG does have the Galaxy client, they might be less reluctant.

I like it how they admit:

"We're happy to support DRM, but it will be an inferior experience..."

So true! :)
"Uploading and sharing levels needs some kind of DRM to work (because levels need to be associated with the account of the creator otherwise anyone can control them)."

Ermm....no you don't, not necessarily. They can make the said features active if the game finds Steam open, otherwise if it doesn't find it launches without. This is no different than how Galaxy works with multiplayer games and the same can be done with Steam.

Devs have no idea what DRM is.

Its not Steam only, there is a stripped down DRM Free version on Humble store. Since they have a DRM Free build there shouldn't be a problem releasing the game on GOG as well.

This game needs to be on gog. It is an epic epic epic game.

Define "stripped down". I honestly don't know how the game makes use of Steamworks matchmaking and leaderboards. Goes without saying that the DRM-free version won't have achievements.

Is it a co-op game? I am unsure as to what "features" are dropped from a single player offline play?
This is a great game, I can't get enough of it. Predabro is by far my favourite character. Skinning and hanging up every one he kills. Classic.
Agreed, it needs to be on gog!
It will be great if it comes to GOG too. :)

YES!
I just saw they updated the build on Humble. Its now named "Broforce Beta with Level Share" New version posted: 2015-10-20 at 13:26

So hopefully this indicates good things to come.

At work now, will try it later when I get home.

Apologies for the late response but I was actually testing the game for quite a while and it is DRM Free even on Steam i.e. can be run without the client including the very latest updated build. But, just to be sure I downloaded the Humble DRM Free build as well a couple of hours ago (which as samlii mentioned was last updated on 2015-10-20) and it doesn't seem to be a stripped down version at all which I initially assumed so even online is available most likely through Direct IP if I'm not mistaken.

There are ofcourse no achievements as you mentioned, apart from that the one small annoying drawback so far is everyone's nick is "Brononymous" online and the name can't be changed in options because the game only uses the Steam ID (when running with it). The other negligible issue is that even in the DRM Free version it shows a "Steam is not running" message at the bottom left so folks here will probably rage if it releases with that intact on GOG. I don't think its going to take a lot for the devs to fix as apart from that the game is great and I don't see any reason why it can't be released here on GOG because the Humble DRM Free build has all the options including "Level Editor" as well, though I haven't tested if it can be shared online or not.
