Do you need the perfect game to relax after a long week? What if it came with a wholesome bonus?!

Since the release of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure (-45%), developers UsTwo and publisher Plug In Digital, have been working with social enterprise Ecologi to sustainably plant one tree for every copy sold, with the goal of reaching one million. As this milestone is fast approaching, we'd like to help with this final push. Starting today, we're putting the game on a 72H Flash Deal, until 29th November 2021, 2 PM UTC, with an all-time high discount of -45%, and we will be doubling the base amount of trees planted for each copy sold on GOG during that period!

Find more information about the number of trees already planted, where they are and their impact, right here.
Wow, I've kind of had my eye on this, but now imma definitely buy it for me and my bro, just for them trees.
Super cool.
In case anyone else is wondering I checked the cost per tree on their business page is listed as £0.12.

Another proof of GOG going woke.. Sad.

Lol is planting trees considered 'woke' now.
I can't tell if the bar for what is considered woke is low, or the bar for the people who use it is low.

And FYI: a lot of other non-profit allow you to donate to plant trees, they all "cost" 1$/tree.

So yes, this is just a fake "good guy" marketing strategy to drive up sales.

Both.

And pointing that out is also "woke". /s

You get a game and plant 2 trees, for less than $10, what else you want? You know the prices to plant a tree, but how many times you actually spend that momey to plant trees? It's a good deal and the game is good, purchase it if you want :)

They seem to be planted mostly or entirely in Mozambique and Madagascar and from the Ecologi FAQ they pay "at least the required minium wage" which, looking at wageindicator.org and moneyexchangerate.org (random sites I just found), is about $75.65 per month in Mozambique (based on 48 hours a week) and somewhere between $43.28 and $86.72 per month in Madagascar assuming one of the agricultural categories would apply (based on 40 hours a week). They also say "Those who were once victims of indentured servitude have been able to pay their debts and earn their freedom" so it sounds like many are not actually receiving that much themselves.

I don't think so. Anything that is actually useful can't be woke. Environmental maybe.

I learned not long ago in the midwest there's swaths of families that every year plant trees, not as a holiday but definitely as a regular event.

A number of non-profits and charities have poor translations from the money donated to the money put to the cause they actually put out. I agree it's just a marketing strategy.

I agree, it's still a nice gesture that has real effects from indie developers who definitely aren't dripping in money.
Usual useless forum controversy.
How about upping the ante? In case they make the million CDPR/GOG donates another. :-)

As to their success, it's well deserved, congratulations! I really enjoyed playing it because it's such a cute and relaxing feel good game.

It is in the current situation or it's usually some kind of scam.
I'm putting "baltic bitch" as a write-in vote, hoping maybe our grand-grand-grandsons won't have to live this cruel world where plywood costs hundred bucks a sheet.
