Hey everybody,

I have Timelapse through GOG and whenever I exit the game after playing it I get strange graphical errors that seem to only be solved when I restart my computer.

The big error is that 1: highlighted text in windows is a different color (sometimes illegible, it is often teal.) and 2: sometimes the background of text fields are completely black. This box and the forums I can read, but firefox address bar and my run command prompt are black field on black text.

It only happens once I leave the game.

Is there a way to reset the graphics? I've already tried disabling and reenabling the driver in device manager but that didn't solve the problem.

Sounds like the game is setting graphics options and it not rolling back once the game exists (i.e. some games switch to 256 colors scheme, and on close it is supposed to revert). Best bet is to contact support, state what OS your using, graphic card, and get them to run some diagnostics.
You could also try running the game with compatibility options - right click on the shorctut and goto where the executable is. Then right click on that and choose properties. Under compatability you can select various OS and other settings. I would run through those just to check, could just be setting one of those.

Hmm, not sure if this will help because it is meant to fix the weird colors of a game when running it rather than the artifacts you describe, do try it.

Browser over to the folder where Timelapse is installed (and where the .exe of the game resides), make a new .txt file & name it timelapsefix.txt. Inside the .txt write the following:

taskkill /F /IM explorer.exe
timelapse.exe
start explorer.exe

* Of course, if the .exe of the game is other than timelapse.exe, change the name accordingly (sorry, i don't have the game myself to check it out).

Then save the changes to the file and close it. Finally, change the extension of the file from .txt to .bat and run it. Does it do anything to fix the weird stuff you're seeing when you're quitting the game?

edit: if you follow the compatibility route as nightcraw1er.488 suggests, make sure you'll run the game in Windows XP compatibility mode, click "Disable Visual Themes" and set the game to "Run in 256 colors". Of course you can try other options as well.

Using the suggested method of 256 color scheme screws up the in-game graphics but I did find a work-around but it isn't exactly optimal.

So this game literally changes your Windows 7 scheme options. I have confirmed this by going into the advanced appearance settings and seeing that the game changed the 3D Objects to be black, and my graphics were completely back to normal. I can also switch to a different theme it puts everything to a readable state and everything is fine afterwards

I'm not sure if this is standard with the GoG frontend. But it is a work-around for now.

Nope, its not really a GOG frontend. I don't know Timelapse, but I would guess its the engine changing this. I would pop a mail into the support desk and see what they say, I can't check anything at the moment as away. You can set certain preferences for each game (assuming you have the interface for the graphics card - Nvidia control panel for instance), so you might just need to set preferences for that app - or check the DosBox settings if it uses that .
