An open letter to GOG:
Dear GOG,
With one hour and five minutes to go until arguably your finest hour, you seem destined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The Witcher 3 should be your crowning glory, but instead, I feel genuinely aggrieved.
Why?
Because it comes at a massive price. GOG - the chippy young upstart who had a very consumer-friendly outlook is determined to destroy the banks of goodwill that it has taken years to garner.
In theory, Galaxy sounds great.....but......it's not, is it? It is flaky, even' for a beta and you seem intent on jamming all the social media crapola down our throats. Achievements? Friends? Really? I submit this to you: despite several threads jam-packed full of gamers asking that you put the bookshelf back the way it was, you refuse to do so. Why not? You say you can't do it, but that's not true. We all used to have that functionality.
I'm not convinced by the fact that Galaxy failed to note any of my installed games, despite prompting. Should I uninstall and reinstall them? Not fun, GOG, not fun.
Don't even get me started on CDPR - there have been some pretty awful untruths flying about regarding consolisation, exclusive deals for XBONE and the infamous 2013 demos. "We are PC gaming's friends." I can't stand the whole "season pass" idea and it smells rank that it has now been adopted by CDPR.
Are you still our friends? I see you trying to turn into Steam, with its abundance of extraneous dogcrap. I came to you because you WEREN'T Steam. If you insist on going there, fair warning - I will not accompany you.
Good luck.
