Anybody remember this game? So awesome, imo it's still the best racing game out there. Emulated by many, but dethroned by none. I think Midnight Club 3 was the closest that came to being this ambitious. Never mind that BRR had crap graphics, the main thing was it was fun to play. The controls were solid, the shifting camera constantly made you feel like you were really steering a real helicopter, and the trucks were damn hell lot of fun to control. Not only was it ambitious for its time, the most important thing was that it got the mechanics of a racing game RIGHT.
Sigh. What I wouldn't give for a Big Red Racing 2. FUEL looks good, but too bad their selection of vehicles is limited. Oh the joys of racing helicopters under ridges, and driving boats across ravines. It brings back those memories.

Interesting. It was only yesterday that one of my colleagues talked about this game over lunch, and I've never heard of it.
Personally, I'm still hoping Death Rally will eventually make its way here.

Oh I spent countless hours of my youth playing Big Red Racing. It was a little tough at times but still loads of fun, and was one of my favorites. All of those different environments and vehicles could have made the game too gimmicky, but as you said they pulled it off so well. The voices were pretty funny too, and delightfully non-PC, though there weren't enough of them to prevent it from getting repetitive (at least you could turn them off). Also, the multiplayer was a blast... I used to play it on MPlayer and on a LAN with my little brothers. I'd love to see Big Red Racing on GOG.

Really sorry to necro this old thread, but BRR is one of my favourite racing games as well.
I literally pissed myself playing some of the dirt track levels when your car is sent flying and bouncing around on the drivers head.

My friend and I once spent an entire evening re-recording all the sounds in the demo. :P

I still own a copy of it. I'd love to see it rereleased though. Especially if they could give it higher res graphics. But, it holds up amazingly well. I love the fact that there are short cuts on some of the tracks. Not to mention the hoverboats going off track was epic.

Now, I'm sorry to do the same... but I want Big Red Racing so freaking bad... it was such a great game!
