Well, what did you miss...? Probably a few "This is the end of GOG!" events, enough shitstorms to get "Shitocalypse" into the bible, a handful of forum moderators. So... nothing important. GOG's still selling games ;)

Holy mother of RNJebus...

Firstly, Congrats tiny.

I think ill keep the pm setting as i generally dont like people lol, but looking through the comments, i have to say im a bit sad at the direction GOG have gone.
I mean i know we used to ask for "some" moderation but from what ive just read seems like they have gone slightly 40's germanic. (no offense intended to the Germans)
Please tell me its not that bed? (though public opinion seems to suggest its correct)

I have been getting notifications about the releases from facebook some looked nice and some meh. I already got original sin 2.

It is however looking like my return was premature, i escaped just as the shitstorm in a teacup kicked off and i expected it would have calmed down by now.

Edit: I went into AFK mode in 2015 or so.

I got the impression that Linko's moderation level and style was reasonably well liked. Not long before he arrived the general discussion board had become alt-right circlejerk central. Linko did a lot to clean that up, including handing out some bans to those who refused to accept that GOG was not happy to provide a platform for them.

Actually it was a crossfire. "Alt-righters" and merciless "SJWs" continually triggered for everything, writing a single word was like walking blindfolded into a minefild. Both sides have been cut, and man I'm glad for that.
They are both terrible groups of insane people, the mirror image of each others.

In the same moment I dared to say that, my rep started sinking and it has been constantly going down ever since. Jerks. I believe I lost quite more than 500 by now.

He has become something of a martyr to them because of the circumstances surrounding his departure, despite the fact that he was their "enemy" when he was here. Part of that is that a lot of new people came to the forum following his departure, sent here by a certain youtube commentator.

This bullshit about SJWs has been persistent here since the giant alt-right circlejerk that was gamergate. There's a subset of creepy mens rights guys that adhere to the idea that anything outside of the traditional FPS with hard soldiers is an attack on their way of life and its therefor a giant liberal conspiracy to make them all gay or something. I had largely avoided the forums for a long time because of how many crazies were on here spouting their crazy. It is actually true that Linko kind of cleaned up a big chuck of the crazies and that it's gotten worse since he's been gone... it is strange that they all seem to be spouting their crazy under a thin veneer of support for him... I never really thought about that.

You are right there were definitely a lot of mudslinging on both sides (some of which I may have been a part of), but from what I remember all of the "battlegrounds" were threads with a pretty far right opening post.

And yeah, RTCVB or whatever his name was was banned after spamming the forum with threads about Tommy Robinson. I believe it was actually Elcook who handed out that ban and Linko joined shortly after (possibly because of that incident).

I'm actually thinking of going back into lurk mode, if I'm being honest. It's not changed much here over the past few years.

Hi Reaver, been a while. I lose track of who was who, you were the scottish chap right? Or was that a different Reaver?

Little has changed since 2015. CM in, attempts to change stuff, gives up/gets sacked, stuff reverts to how it was.

Also, Tauto is cheating on TinyE with me, I plan to leave him saddled with our love child, while I dodge the child payments.
