First of all, GOG do not need to get NightDive's attention LOL. They already publish everything on GOG and its very origin is intertwined with GOG.

If there is any "rigging", it's that all vote options were already being worked on. There's no need to rig the votes, when the votes are meaningless to begin with. And I voted for Thief myself, because I did not care about any other game, other than Thief 2, on the off chance that it was not pointless.

I'm saying that you are pretending to be omniscient, whereas in reality you're just assuming. Every time someone loses a vote/election they scream fraud.

There is nothing to gain in rigging these results, Thief games simply have a cult following and the results were not unexpected.

That being said, I did say that I also assume that the vote was likely pointless, as they were likely working on patching all 5 games already. So there would be no point in rigging it on top of that.

Whatever NightDive is working on, they would have released it on GOG regardless.

The alternative is people genuinely having a different opinion, and that's just not possible. Only conspiracy/nazis/shub-niggurath can account for that.

Prioritizing work on a title or-in this case genre, that their Patrons are interested in right now, and are most likely to purchase as soon as it's released. Otherwise, they are just voting for one of many titles that will be published to the store next, GOG's got on their internal list. Of course, this is just for engagement with paying Patrons, since there isn't much else they have to offer.

Maybe, just maybe, it's exactly what it says on the tin. Creating the appearance of "value" for patrons, by letting them pick which game gets the PP sticker next. This is not even the first poll. Everything patrons related starts on the official discord, before eventually they make a website version. Of course you'd need to be on the server to be aware of that.

In the first poll, Rayman 2 won. Did we get some new Ubisoft game as a result? No. So this NightDive announcement is sheer coincidence.

But people always love connecting the dots, even when there's nothing to connect. The original Thief Gold is not even published by NightDive. It getting patched by GOG would make zero difference to NightDive.

And again, if you know anything about NightDive, you'd know that they don't need convincing to publish on GOG. Its very foundation is deeply intertwined with GOG. The founder wanted to play System Shock 2. It wouldn't run. So he thought he would just get it off of GOG, who have been patching up old games from the very beginning. To his surprise, it was not on GOG. So then he took it upon himself to track down the rights, so he could, finally, bring it to GOG. He succeeded. GOG, of course, initially thought they were getting pranked, when a random nobody started claiming he had secured the rights to System Shock 2. And so, NightDive was born.
