I wouldn't be against opening up these votes to the public, but am not sure if the vast majority of the patrons think so too.
The problem is with doing that the only exclusive thing left would be the early access to the behind-the-scenes/top 10 whatever videos that are made public a while later, and that may lessen the appeal of the patronage.

Except I don't care about peak or the most important titles in history, but making sure the games GOG already sell from that era that don't work on modern system actually, you know, WORK.

You really should not call other users idiots just because you disagree with their decision. I don't see any benefit of becoming a Patron myself as well and I also still think that it is just a PR vehicle ... but let people do what they want - no need for insults :)

Which this vote suggests GOG plans to do - ensuring that those late 90s early 2000s CRPGs, immersive sims, real-time strategy, classic adventure games, and old-school shooters that are in the GOG catalogue work by adding them to the GPP, prioritised by the corresponding genres most voted for.

What is nice of you is making it so easy to not support you with, among other things I'm sure, the releases of Hatred and Minds Eye...

This whole mess started with optional tips at checkout that lead to an optional subscription model. GoG is testing the waters to see how many suckers are comfortable with subscription model...
They say it's optional (for now) and they say they won't lock game access behind paywall (for now), but i think once they get enough "patrons" 10 000, 20 000, 50 000... they gona go to phase 2.
Lock features behind subscription, like:
1. Free tier - galaxy only access, ADs and slow download speed
2. GalaxyPro tier - galaxy only access but no ADs and faster download speed
3. Platinum access tier (somthing, somthing 50-100$/€ month subscription), GalaxyPro + access to offline installers
or some BS like this, they are probably considering about it right now.

And we will have patrons to thank for this! This program needs to be killed while there's still time!

Reality check: "Hatred" might not be a game that is considered to be "good" (I personally think it is pretty boring) but it is a fact that people asked to get it here again and again. No idea what's up with "Mind's Eye" - don't know anything about the game but the videos are looking interesting, at least for me. Will have to do some more research.

Remember: There is no thing like a good or bad game - only games you like or dislike ... and same goes for curation.

Hmmm...nah am still good, the surprise/unknown element makes it more fun.

Common sense dictates not to base Game Preservation on any vote at all (because most just keep voting for the same 'low hanging fruit' games that need the least patching), but rather to focus on the games which have the most technical problems. Classic point & click adventures using Adobe AIR / Flash / Shockwave are the flakiest on the store (Dark Fall, one of the Barrow Hill's, etc), requiring SDB shim hacks to force disable ALT-TAB on the whole OS whilst the game is running to avoid the game rendering W10-11 unusable until it gets rebooted (yes, still a thing) plus they have no ScummVM fallback are sorely in need of fixing. All DirectX8 and older games need DX9+ API wrappers under W8-11 due to changes made to DWM since W8.

The second focus should be on original version of upcoming remasters due to the decidedly unpreservational nature publishers will remove original versions the day the remaster gets released. If you don't get the Preservation Program agreement to allow GOG to patch them without further permission from publishers by then, as seen with many prior delisted games (Gray Matter, etc), they may never get patched again.

Yeah, like it or not, Hatred is part of gaming history, so it'll need to stand the test of time to be studied adequately in the future. Hopefully Gone Home will end up on the preservation program too, for the same reason, if either are to be preserved.
