I wonder why the iQue failed in China. Seemed like a cool thingy.

Source? From personal experience, mobile shovelware is HUGE in China. PC gaming not so much.

As far as I know, they play a lot of DOTA 2 (and I suppose every MOBA and MMO, Chinese gold farmers can't be just an urban legend ...?)

8thSage: Video games weren't banned in China just most video game consoles.
That sounds more likely, given Japanese/Chinese relations.

You woke up? Lucky guy. Imagine you didn`t wake up, then you would be dead maybe.
Hey, wait a minute... You really woke up this morning right? You are not a Zombie trying to infiltrate the forum?

Well yep but later Nintendo introduced (together with the iQue brand) gba models and games/ds ones, too.
That's tasty... I wonder how's the console market in the PRC, since pc is so ginormous.

edit: apparently the thing's still strong there

I had a chance to visit Beijing once. Weird place. They put the airport right in the middle of Chinatown.

Indeed a very strange place. They even call their airports "Geechung" although that's not even an English word...

Easier access to the Chinese girls with green eyes. Lots of human cargo to process. Lo Pan needs all the help he can get.
Consoles have been forbidden, not the games themselves.
However, it does not do much good to have the game
if you have no means to play it either...

According to relatives still living there behind the great firewall,
consoles have been available(grey market?) for a while.

Hope this helps

Odd, considering bootleg NES's were sold from China during the 80's.

Not odd, they were just protecting national production, so the real ones wouldn´t compete ;P

Well, no kidding. But the ban was based on the idea that video games "waste the minds of the youth". So, still odd that they'd nationalize something they saw as a problem later on. Maybe the Chinese knockoffs did too well.

Well I encounter loads of mind wasted denizens when I play multiplayer games, although, I wouldn´t blame consoles for that.
