morolf: I name it the USS Zheng He, after the well-known Chinese explorer of the 15th century. Ship names in the Star Trek universe so far have been too much a continuation of naming conventions in the US navy / been too Eurocentric, this need to be rectified for a more adequate representation of all humanity. Zheng He is also a good role model, since apart from some skirmish in Sri Lanka his voyages were mostly peaceful, based on trade and exchange of gifts etc.

Motto: "To explore and seek out common ground with even those most alien to us"
(imo exploration and a humanistic mindset aiming at peace and cooperation were the core elements of classic Star Trek, before the franchise became focused on mind-numbing action).

Ship Dedication: Truth is the star which guides us all.
Commissioned 2369 / In service: 2377 / Lost 2389
Captain: Gartov Malen - Human / Cardassian hybrid - (Orphan of Cardassian war.)
Captain's Catchphrase: ....aaaand.. NOW! (with signature directional head nod)

Bio: After a prolonged design and development due to difficulties integrating several of its new experimental technologies, the ship was put into service in 2377 and began running support and diplomatic missions in the wake of the Dominion war. . Played a pivotal role in recovery of the attack on Mars in 2385. Ship was lost in 2389 on mission returning a diplomatic envoy back to Cardassia. The trip was supposed to be Captain Maeln's first visit to the Cardassian homeworld. The ship responded to a distress call in the Portas system while enroute and encountered a surprise attack by suspected but never confirmed Breen ships. Quickly overwhelmed the ship was lost with all hands.
