Crosmando: Their available here on GOG, you play them inside the program for the 2004 BT.

Here's some reviews of the original game if you're interested:

I actually own the game here on GOG but I never tried the classics. They look rather interesting to be honest.

Gnostic: Bard's Tale 4? I only heard of the bard's Tale, where's Bard's Tale 2 and 3?
lol

marsrunner: Loved the 2009 Bard's Tale, but will be nice to have a real sequel. I also remember days and nights in front of my Commodore 64 with pencil and graph paper playing these awesome games.
Way before 2009 ( most played on Ps2 ) and you mean the parity of Bards Tale.... No no the real Bards tale's were hard core Crpg's from the late 80's / early 90's

It would be awesome if they actually got it done but it was just announced and look.. to be honest to make a game like this your looking at about 3 years..if funds are met in Kickstarter.. Wouldn't it be great though if it was First-person-RPG and not grid-based like Grimmrock or MMX but ..... if made it will be. Only way with 6-party members

Edit-Take that Back.. Wizardry 8 no grid movement and MM6-9.. lol what was I thinking.. ( beer soaked brain )

I'm going to go buy Wasteland 2 now since I'm buzzed and wouldn't sober... seriously though, why would you pay 20$ more for the Deluxe version... Oh-right right the Bards Tale Parity is included,, how I ended up here.. Last thoughts.. I know why not but Wizardry 1-5 should be on GOG.. Just wanted to add that

timppu: Hopefully it doesn't require drawing a map yourself to graph paper...

PetrusOctavianus: That was half the fun with the old BT games.
No, that was no fun at all, that`s why we bought computer gaming magazines which came with printed maps, so we didn`t have to draw them by ourselves!
Very nice. Will look forward to it coming to GOG in future.

Sir , I disagree with you as my fondest memories as a child was mapping out dungeons on graph paper for Sega Master system games Phantasy Star 1 and Miracle Warriors ... lol then Bards Tale and Wizardry on my 286 12 Mghz CPU lol

Well, and I disagree with you. :-) All my friends back then used the maps that were printed in gaming magazines. I can remember when a friend of mine and I were trying to draw the map by ourselves, just for fun. But guess what? It was a total catastrophy and no fun at all!
Maybe that´s the fundamental difference between germans and americans: We want to have a good map, you want to draw it.
Hmm, maybe that`s also the reason for all the american soldiers all around the world:
They didn`t find home cause they had no maps!
Just kidding! :-)
Damn! I didn't realize Legend of Grimrock 1+2 were THAT successful. First we get a M&M10 and now a new Bard's Tale. Hopefuly, sometime in the future there'll be news of a new Wizardry or Eye of the Beholder.

In those days nerds mades games, nerds played games, and games were meant to be a challenge.
Nowadays games are made for everyone to be able to complete them, provided they have more patience and attention span than a lobotomized goldfish.

People like you are the reason games were simplified and dumbed down.

Wow, no need to be so harsh man :D

Just provide options for both camps: automap option or draw-it-yourself option.

This news made my day! I played it on the C64, great times man.. great times...
Good thing it's not a sequel for the 2004 game. Because I think it sucks.

Yes, that's a good option.
It's not that I'm against automaps; I prefer them in games that are not tile based, but for tile based games like Bard's Tale, Wizardry and Dungeon Master mapping was part of the challenge.
I like both older and new Bard's Tale games, but I prefer the original trilogy.

Also, I'm surprised no one posted this! :D

Ah, yes. There always needs to be at least one grizzeld veteran who finds every convenience an insult, and in turn insults people who enjoy them, because games should be hard. And hard of course is the same thing as "time consuming" and "tedious".

Drawing your own map does not make the game harder, it's just busy work. If you like it, if it's part of the immersion or whatever for you- cool. But to me it's just a chore. And how is auto map a problem? Even if you can't turn it off in the options menu, you can just not use it.

PetrusOctavianus: In those days nerds mades games, nerds played games, and games were meant to be a challenge.
Back in those days, games didn't provide real story or characters, or much in terms of AI or other gameplay elements, so they had to resort to cartography. Yeah, I'm exaggerating, but if you say that mapping was half the fun, that implies that the rest of the gameplay wasn't that much fun.

Roxolani: Good
No news about Wasteland 3?
Too soon man. I prefer they make another Arcanum like game.
